idi Resources Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor for Aprilia bikes in Malaysia, launched the highly anticipated new Aprilia Tuono 660 which takes the legendary Aprilia Tuono V4 into the medium engine capacity segment. Worthy child of the unbeatable Tuono V4 1100, the new Tuono 660 combines manageable power and light weight, for great performance available to all, refined chassis architect and an electronic controls package derived directly from the Tuono V4. Aprilia Tuono 660 embraces the concepts of sporty versatility, ease and fun that Aprilia is introducing for a new generation of riding enthusiasts. Aprilia Tuono 660 also shares the primary project objective with RS 660: creating a bike with an extraordinary weight/power ratio: 183 kg kerb weight for 95 CV of power. A category record, which represents the ideal formula for fun on the road, accessible to everyone. Tuono 660 is dedicated to new riders, since it is also available in the 35 kW version, but also for younger riders who are moving up from smaller engine capacities looking for a high-level sport naked that can provide fun on the road and is also ready to support the rider on the occasional track day. Tuono 660 has that same aggressive and sporty style as the Tuono family, standing out for its reduced surface dimensions that enhance that dynamic and sporty character it has, even when its parked. Like the RS 660, the new Tuono also adopts the innovative concept of the double fairing with aerodynamic appendix function, born out of increasingly more in-depth research in the wind tunnel, as well as the triple LED headlight unit featuring DRL lights. Tuono 660 boasts a magnificent structure committed to light weight made up of the frame and

i-moto.my swingarm, both in die-cast aluminium. The adjustable Kayaba suspension system has a dedicated set-up. The high handlebar and the chassis architecture measurements differentiate Tuono 660 from the RS, benefiting total control, responsiveness and agile handling, thanks to a different offset of the fork plate. The engine is used as a bearing element and contributes to forming a compact, lightweight and stiff structure. The latest generation forward-facing twin cylinder, small and lightweight, is a child of the experience gained on the powerful Aprilia V4, from which its construction philosophy and basic technical concepts are drawn. The 270° combustion timing allows that character and grit that riders love so much to be achieved. The final drive is shorter than that of the RS 660, privileging responsiveness and quickness. Its electronics are top of the class, more advanced than various superbike class bikes: the Ride-byWire electronic accelerator provides the best management of the APRC electronic controls suite that includes multi-level traction control, anti wheelie control, cruise control, engine brake and selectable engine maps, also joined by the ABS system. To easily manage all the electronic controls through the colour TFT instrumentation, Aprilia has fine tuned five Riding Modes (three dedicated to road riding and two for the track): the rider just needs to choose the option that best interprets his or her riding style, always leaving the possibility of customising them. Tuono 660 is now available in Concept Black with the selling price of RM 77,900

his oil made a huge difference over the 10w-30 as recommended viscosity for 1 st Honda CBR250RR at BigWing. I was thinking it was a bit too light for a 40hp bike and with 2793km on the odometer. So I thought 15w-50 was the way to go, just like my MT-09, which made a big difference in performance, engine temps, and engine vibration. So that was the only viscosity oil I will put on “Baby”.

The oil change was right after a 30km ride, so right after the 1.9liter 15w/50 was changed, I rode back to Petaling Jaya. 15w/50 viscosity will feel heavier when engine just warmed up, Ideally the right viscosity is 10w/40 Fully Synthetic Mobil 1. But after riding short distance gear changing is much

WHY DO YOU RIDE? L R

iding a motorcycle gives you a sense of freedom. If, you’re in total control of the moment, you are not just riding, you are flying and there are no set limits to stop you.

The sound of the motor and the vibration which you feel. The obscured view going on around you. It’s an embracement of senses and acts as oxygen to your soul. We just love it, the sheer enjoyment of being on a motorcycle.

You can travel to any place with complete freedom (no worries about traffic nor parking). It lets you be you without anyone’s permission. It’s the moment of freedom. The rider now can break loose and flies through the street with the widest smile on his face. It might sound like a cliché but it’s true, when on your bike you experience the open air with the wind brushing through your face, all the colors around is vivid and vibrant.

otorcycle is one thing that keeps friends together and it will till the end of times. Everybody taking out time from their schedule and then going out for a ride is something that you will see only in the motorcycling community. The high of power and the acceleration they get at the flick of their wrist is something that they look for and can’t keep themselves away from. The thrill of clocking high speeds on their odo after hitting the rev limiter beyond its limit on each shift is

ave you ever seen a motorcycle parked outside a psychiatrist’s clinic? We are pretty sure the answer you will have is No, because riding a motorcycle takes away all the tension and stress, like you have rebooted your system. motorcycles make you feel energised and refreshed after each ride. It is a therapy, a way of life that helps bind love for a couple riding together. It lets you have your own space while getting time to forget everything that has been bothering you. A riders brain is stimulated and becomes more active while riding a Motorcycle. ll of you would agree to the fact that, Motorcycles are fun to ride. There is a lot of entertainment filled within it that awaits you to get it out. You can pull those amazing wheelies or stoppies by just playing with the throttle. It can make you fly in the air on those humps or make your kiss the road on those curves. Anything that gets your blood racing is probably worth doing. For many bikers riding a motorcycle is not a hobby or need, it’s Passion. All they want in life is to travel to every corner of the world on their motorcycle. There is a deep fire in their belly for riding which will make them achieve impossible miles, paths & terrains. Bikers will not mind devoting a good amount of time and income for their motorcycles. In the hierarchy of needs, for them it’s motorcycling that stays on the top. et’s face it, bikes are super cool and hot at the same time. Motorcycle between your legs increases your coolness factor by 10 times. With all the gears and armor on you definitely look cool but don’t make that as your purpose of motorcycling as there are some riders who take up motorcycles just to have these few seconds of coolness.

Have you ever noticed that the motorcyclists will always have a gender to their bike? Guys will refer to their machine as “She” and lady riders refer to their bike as “He”. It’s because the

L Fuel Injection Diagnostic (FID) is a tool to check the fuel injection systems. As far as we know, our motorcycle CPU or the brain is the ECU that controls the fuel injection system assisted by RideByWire sensors from the throttle. With this diagnose we can set the air intake and fuel level. My problem with my CBR250RR is there is a certain lag at 0-3500rpm (0%-5% throttle) at 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. So a fellow CBR250RR friend, Syam introduce his friend Pendi that his diagnostic would clear the lagging problem I had on “Baby”. The QuickShifter also smoother in lower gears.

Diagnosis & Tuning Process on the fuel injection system and solve the stock RideByWire lag. Setting can be made on standard ECU only and not aftermarket ECU.

Involves 3 processes. Diagnose, Reset ECU & Fuel Adjustment. 1. Diagnose and check problems. 2. Reset error problem. Fuel adjustment & Air intake settings. 3. Fuel adjustment depends Standard ECU features. FiD does not change the original factory mapping. Only the fuel mixture is adjusted. So warranty no problem. Too bad FID does not throw cut offs. FID does not involve the process of modifying /cutting any wires on the motorcycle. Every Fi motorcycle has a diagnostic connector.

fficially this is our first Honda motorcycle (I never ever owned a Honda even a Kapkia), so Baby is something special. I only rode once before on the track at normal speed for half a day. (special thanks to Rizkie for racuning me) #Poison. 1 week later, and Baby was out of Bigwing Setapak! Rode back in the rain and wet road, didn’t clock much mileage for 3 days (about 128km in 3 days, that’s very low for my standard, hahaha)

On the third I met up with Ah Sheng from Sheng Fatt Motor at Ducati Malaysia, I just ask if I could be invited to Penang for RS660 test. He immediately send me his Invite letter! Yey! Penang here we come! Took this opportunity to run-in Baby! So on a nice and cooling Friday to took off to Penang at 128km mileage, (run-in period we will normally clock 800km) our break in speed first 400km was 110km/h or below. But I gradually took it over 130km/h after hitting 450km mileage. I consider this a slow ride up Penang Island. The Journey took about 5 hours

ooking at the market, an excellent sports 250cc, must meet the needs of both "track" and "urban riding". At the same time, it can give riders enough excitement to hit the center of the curve at an unimaginable speed, and at the same time, it can give the rider, the confidence for city riding. The 250SR has both "sportiness" and "easy handling" at the same time, its a sports bike that’s affordable too.

The 250SR does basically meets all the sport riding conditions. This also explains the reason why the 250SR has become a new benchmark for CFMoto to enter the sports bike category with its Kiska styled design. Track-style posture and sporty design, as well as flexible handling.

i-moto.my

C

FMOTO hopes that 250SR can bring this single cylinder acceleration and its agile performance while taking into account the practicality of daily life, so as to meet any needs of rider who desire to enter the track experience and practical for everyday communing. Experienced riders will know that an entry-level sports bikes must have sufficient power and super agility to be the most fun and 250SR has what it takes to Play to WIn!

If i say it’s perfect, I will get clobbered, if I say not, I will be lying! Well on ... The 2021 CBR250RR is as close to perfect as I've seen in a 250cc street bike in many respects. It doesn't cry out for mods as urgently as my Ninja did.... The last 250cc I had was way back in 2013 was a Ninja 250RR. But the CBR250RR cant compare to my Aprilia RS250 back in the nineties! Fun & crazy two stroke era which pulls a crazy 72.5 hp @ 11900 rpm and weights only 140kg! Winning Red with swapped Metal Black rims In the four stroke era, 250cc has been a very competitive category. When Honda launched its first gen CBR250, single cylinder was targeted to be comfortable but modern stylish looking machine which is capable of delivering high km per liter figures. That Honda does look like a big-bike. Came the Ninja with 2 cylinders took the Malaysian market by storm, and Honda CBR250R was left behind. Then came much later to the market was Yamaha R25, Rossi and R6 inspired sporty faring's set the benchmark in the 250cc category… and the rest is history for Honda CBR250R

i-moto.my

Came the eager awaited Honda CBR250RR, launched in Malaysia end of 2020, took Honda back to its racing grassroots. The new 2021 Honda CBR250RR is sexy, racy and first in its category to have Quick-shifter (Up & Down) and 3 Ride Modes. With adjustable inverted Showa Suspensions front forks and adjustable 5 preload rear suspension, (other brands still have conventional front forks or non branded inverted front forks) But Honda choose to be different, preview to the media as a fully race able 250cc motorcycle. Boon Siew Honda dare to sell a racing program with cost RM30,000 but worth RM50,000. For a 2 year racing program and an investment of RM30,000. it’s a steal if I have 30k laying around! Too bad I didn’t have that. Ok back to current CBR250RR, my 1,000km, with Baby (that what I name her) Riding from 0001 mileage, first visit was to the petrol station! There was 4 petrol car (what a coincident) My first head turner was them! (PDRM) If you don’t mind people coming up to you and ask “wow nice bike! How many cc? 500cc? Then you can carry on riding CBR250RR, if you don’t want the attention, the sell it! For sure the second you put it in Senanglah.my, some one

whos been waiting 3 month to get his CBR250RR will snap it immediately!

The first adventure scooter concept was made by Honda and was designed by a group of Thai designers which has successfully attracted the attention of many riders. This style segment made WMoto to enter this similar segment. WMoto recently introduced the Xtreme 150i which the engine is capable of producing 11.53 hp at 8,500 rpm and 11 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The body design is indeed similar to the ADV 150, but in some details there are of course different. One of them is the headlights. So physically, this motorbike is more like the Honda X-ADV750 motorcycle than the ADV150. Cooler right? The instrument panel is in the form of a large box and is most likely fully digital. In the house the keys are

still conventional, not yet equipped with keyless features. Another part that is different and arguably superior to the ADV 150 is the suspension. The front suspension is equipped with upside down front suspension. While the rear suspension, fitted with a monoshock with a nearly horizontal position. The windscreen is higher than the ADV 150. The height can be adjusted as well as the ADV 150. The fuel tank has a capacity of 12 liters and the filling area is in the middle of the deck. It is not clear how much the price offered for this adventure scooter from WMoto. Rumoured to launch end of June 2021

ERA BEGINS

i-moto.my

When I was at EiCMA, Milan 2019, I witness the launch of the Aprilia RS660, and at that moment I knew that a new era will unfold for the Noale Factory. Resting on all new generation 100-bhp 660cc parallel-twin engine, a new generation of lightweight yet highperformance bikes is born, featuring sophisticated design and cutting-edge technology! This marks a re-emergence of middisplacement engine sizes, allowing Aprilia to rediscover the pleasure and joy of everyday riding with a touch of occasional track days. The Aprilia RS 660 is the first of a brand-new range of motorcycles in response to the demand from new generations for fun, easy and satisfying bikes, just as apt for thrilling road riding as they are for occasional outings on the race track. So the question is would you buy a new bike in a new category? Hell yeah! I would!

The RS 660 raises the concept of sportiness to a new level, focusing on an excellent power-to-weight ratio that is likely to really excite but that is also easy to handle, making it an accessible ride for anyone. A unique bike stylistically, from the ground up, maintaining the Aprilia values of stateof-the-art technology and style. Style: the new generation of Aprilia The Aprilia RS 660 also clearly stands out in terms of style and dictates the shape of the Aprilia sports bikes to come. The design is innovative, sophisticated and genuinely sporty. The main objective of the Aprilia Style Centre was to create dynamic, modern shapes with low surface area, although without taking the concept to extremes, to offer a sense of space and comfort to both rider and passenger, even aboard a sports bike, while at the same time, enhancing both its lightness and slenderness. The main features of the fairings speak typical Aprilia sporting parlance, and are characterized by a triple LED headlight assembly, equipped with perimeter Daytime Running Lights positioned around the two main headlights, making the RS 660 immediately distinguishable in any lighting conditions. Direction indicators are integrated into the DRL profiles making the front end even more compact. The lighting system is equipped with several features to make riding even safer: thanks to the presence of a twilight sensor, the dipped beams are switched on automatically, while the selfcancelling turn indicators flash in the event of emergency braking. Finally, thanks to the cornering lights function, a pair of additional headlights in the parabolas illuminate the inside of the curve, increasing visibility when taking bends. The Aprilia RS 660 boasts a double fairing with integrated aerodynamic features, an extremely cutting-edge solution that reaffirms Aprilia’s commitment to aerodynamic research. The analysis of these two-dimensional

surfaces in order to achieve the twin objective of combined design and functionality, proved a particularly taxing one. Efficiency was first analysed with the help of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) calculation software, followed by wind tunnel analysis, then further evaluation on both road and track. The inspiration clearly derives from the world of racing: one of the functions of the double-walled fairing is, indeed, to optimize stability at high speeds, while increasing rider comfort by protection from air pressure and the dispersion of hot air flows emanating from the engine and radiator. Aboard the RS 660, the ergonomics are perfect. The riding position is coherently designed with everyday sportiness in mind, with Aprilia culture having always designed bikes based on perfect rider integration. The seatfootpeg-handlebar triangulation welcomes riders of all stature, offering comfort and spaciousness, with a posture that is neither heavily-loaded onto the handlebars, nor with legs excessively bent due to highly-placed foot-rests. The rider can, therefore, enjoy a position that guarantees maximum control but without causing long-distance fatigue, making the RS 660 perfect for either full-throttle racing or everyday riding.

The seat features very comfortable padding and is tapered at the sides to facilitate the resting of the feet on the ground which allows easy manoeuvres from a stationary position. The generously-sized pillion pad is positioned on the tail, whose design was once again inspired by the V4 family, while a single-seat tail comes as an optional extra. The choice of placing the exhaust pipes beneath the engine brings an added benefit of allowing greater freedom to position the passenger footrests, thus increasing comfort. The 15-litre capacity petrol tank is designed to enhances the compactness, letting the rider embrace it comfortably while protectively positioned behind the fairing. In the traditional vein of Aprilia sports models, the RS 660 has also been designed to facilitate the fast, easy removal of any surplus elements when used on the track, such as mirrors, passenger footrests and license plate holders. The Aprilia chassis: a benchmark in handling and precision Aprilia’s ability to manufacture first-rate chassis is the stuff of legends: “It’s an Aprilia” signals a guarantee of design and construction quality, feeling and handling effectiveness. In keeping with this fine tradition, the RS 660 features a magnificent, brand new structure focusing on slenderness, made up of a frame and swingarm both in die-cast aluminium, featuring unique characteristics within their class. The chassis dimensions favour agility: thanks to its 1370 mm wheelbase and the 24.1° inclination of the steering head, the RS 660 boasts exceptional handling capabilities, combined with all the precise features and sensations that characterize the front end of classic Noale-produced motorcycles. The frame is made up of twin lateral beams bolted into the steering head area and, to the rear; the engine is maximized as a load-bearing element and contributes to forming a compact, lightweight yet rigid structure. In order to make the frame even lighter and more essential, the swingarm is pivoted

directly into the engine: this is a monobloc element characterized by its considerable length, useful for having optimum traction and asymmetrical arms – a typical technical choice in the history of the Aprilia RS. The particular mounting of the adjustable shock absorber allows for excellent progression even without the insertion of any linkage, thus reducing even more precious weight. In designing the frame, Aprilia designers paid particular attention to the area of the steering head to ensure the necessary sturdiness for both road and track use, while keeping the turn radius very low to facilitate everyday riding use. The chassis is completed by an adjustable Kayaba fork with 41 mm upside-down stems and a braking system made up of, a pair of 320 mm diameter steel discs, at the front and a pair of radial mount calipers and a radial master cylinder on the handlebars both manufactured by Brembo. The RS 660 is equipped with high-performance Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa II tyres in sizes 120/70 ZR 17 at the front and 180/55 ZR 17 to the rear, guaranteeing safety and enjoyment on the road, as well as plenty of grip for maximum performance on-track. The handling, nimbleness and compactness of the RS 660, combined with its engine performance, invite pleasure and thrills on winding curve-filled routes, requiring a very limited amount of work on the rider’s part.

Great performance from Aprilia’s new 100 hp twin-cylinder An all-new engine makes its debut in the Aprilia RS 660 which is set to feature subsequently in a full range of new motorcycles. This is a 660 cc parallel-twin cylinder unit, a highly compact latest-generation engine derived from the 1100 cc frontbanked V4, whose line it follows in both concept and measurements and sports a Euro 5 homologation. This configuration was chosen for its compactness and lightness. An engine with reduced horizontal and lateral dimensions allows great design freedom both for the arrangement of fundamental parts such as the intake and exhaust. As far as the chassis is concerned, the engine also features load-bearing functions, while housing the swingarm to its rear. The front-leaning configuration affords the rider more comfort, thanks to the greater heat dissipation and leaves the designers plenty of freedom to exploit the space. Furthermore, the engineering lends itself to superior cooling, helped also by the ingenious double-walled fairing system which aims at accelerating the air flows passing through it. With the same objective in mind, long exhaust manifolds were engineered to funnel flows into a single-piece tailpipe with a asymmetrical split outlet, all fully positioned beneath the engine, with the added advantage of superior weight distribution and a lower centre of gravity. The new Aprilia twin-cylinder is the result of experience gained developing the extremely powerful engine that equips the RSV4 and is therefore based on a background of highly efficient and technical trials: the cylinder head, combustion chambers, ducts, cylinders and pistons all derive from the V4. Likewise, it features an 81 mm bore – as in the 1078 cc V4 – with a 63.9 mm stroke. The decision to take advantage of the V4 technology guarantees top-

class performance, while taking into consideration the high piston stroke speeds relative to its displacement size. Naturally, all engine components, including castings and molds, have all been designed and developed from the ground up. The new engine has the crankcase split horizontally into two pieces with the cylinders integrated into the upper crankcase to reduce overall dimensions to render the structure more robust. The cylinders are offset from the crankshaft to minimize internal friction during piston thrusts.

The hollowed camshafts of the 4-valveper-cylinder twin-shaft are side chain driven. The mechanically operated oil bath multi disc clutch has a built-in assist and slipper system. Wet sump lubrication involves an oil sump protruding downwards and crafted around the intake port, in order to best gather the lubricant in every type of riding phase, even when the bike is at its maximum inclination or during periods of braking and acceleration. For a parallel-twin of this displacement, the performance obtained is groundbreaking and comparable to that of a much higher cubic capacity twocylinder: 100 hp at 10,500 rpm, with an extension capacity that allows the limiter to be moved up to its 11,500 rpm threshold. The maximum 67 Nm torque is offered at 8,500 rpm, with 80% of the torque available from 4,000 rpm, which becomes 90% when 6,250 rpm are reached. The RS 660 is also available in the 95 hp version which can be disabled, ideal for beginners or less experienced riders.

In addition to performance and lightness, another aim of the project was to obtain from the engine the same character and grit typical of V-twin cylinders. To this end, valve timing with connecting rod pins arranged at 270° were chosen. Combustion is thus asymmetrical and offset by 270° to obtain irregular bursts which perform and sound similar to a V-twin. Furthermore, this type of configuration allows, by means of a single countershaft, easy balancing of the alternating forces of first and second order. The injection system includes a duo of 48 mm-diameter throttle bodies, with intake ducts of varying lengths to optimize delivery at high and medium speeds. The performance of the new engine is guaranteed by electronics directly loaned from the Aprilia V4, including Ride-by-Wire with multi-mapping, an

electronic accelerator, for the subtle management of subtle, yet progressive acceleration, even at low revs and optimal consumption. The first manufacturer to break the black and red monopoly with its spectacular coloration in the 1990s, Aprilia now returns to its role as stylistic ground-breaker, debuting the RS 660’s new Acid Gold – a colour yet to be seen in the motorcycle world – adding a new perspective to the most up-to-the-minute sportiness and setting a new benchmark for high-performance motorcycle sports styling. Aprilia RS660 is RM59,900 (excluding road tax and insurance) is it worth it? I think this bike is a keeper and worth every penny spent!
