MESSAGE FROM THE GOOD FRIDAY APPEAL
MESSAGES
In my first year at the Good Friday Appeal it has been a pleasure getting to know the Auxiliaries, in particular President, Dr Miriam (Mim) Weisz OAM and the AEC, and to gain an understanding of the incredible work that your team of hundreds of volunteers across Victoria perform in their unified mission to advance the care of sick children. You should be incredibly proud of the $656,933 raised for the Appeal this year. This is especially extraordinary given the challenges faced throughout 2020 and into 2021. Like the majority of our fundraising community you were adversely impacted by COVID-19 and many of your usual activities such as cake bakes, market stalls, raffles, attending the Good Friday Appeal’s Kids Day Out and your calendar of fundraising events, were unable to proceed in their usual format. It was wonderful to see your innovation of moving the goods typically sold through the RCH Gratitude Hub to an online store and running a digital donation campaign through emails, SMS and social media. In 2021 the Good Friday Appeal celebrated 90 years of giving for the kids. From a modest beginning in 1931, a wonderful tradition emerged and evolved into the Good Friday Appeal we know today, which brings people together from all parts of the community to raise funds for the RCH.
We are so grateful for the ongoing support of the whole community of Auxiliaries who have helped the Appeal raise over $399 million for the hospital in the past 90 years.
