Beginning with student-filmed inteviews of Mardi Gras Indian chiefs, this project proceeded with an interpretation of these interviews as an artistic installation for a local community center, then culminated in the design of a Mardi Gras Indian Institute in Central City. Partership with Indian chiefs continued throughout all phases of the project.

Architecture is experienced through roaming around. The difference between architecture that is dead and architecture that is alive depends on whether or not the law of roaming has been brilliantly obeyed.

A path winds back and forth through the pavilion, providing the user with a diverse experience of both the natural site and the built structure. The path ends, as Corbusier’s buildings did,at the building’s highest point, in a rooftop terrace with a commanding view of the site below.
