A visitors’ and service center in New Orleans’ historic Lafayette Cemetery No. 2, this project explored concepts of materiality and assembly. The limited scale of the proposal allowed for focus on detail and conversation with historic context.

Beginning with student-filmed inteviews of Mardi Gras Indian chiefs, this project proceeded with an interpretation of these interviews as an artistic installation for a local community center, then culminated in the design of a Mardi Gras Indian Institute in Central City. Partership with Indian chiefs continued throughout all phases of the project.

recreation deserts study Mapping and analysis of the location and functions of parks in the City of New Orleans under the administration of its three different public entities concerned with recreation in an effort to determine the location of areas lacking in park amenities, and to determine where these amenties should be improved.

pavilion of pathways
A path winds back and forth through the pavilion, providing the user with a diverse experience of both the natural site and the built structure. The path ends, as Corbusier’s buildings did,at the building’s highest point, in a rooftop terrace with a commanding view of the site below.
