The best compliment a community can pay to its voluntary workers is to give a hand now and then but in particular to turn up when meetings have been arranged. It means turning your back on television viewing for a few hours and it also sends the right message to the volunteers that their effort is appreciated. The question and answer sessions are not only informative for the community but they are also instructive for those undertaking the development work. The attendance at the recent public meeting was very encouraging and there was active participation in the Q&A session, giving everyone the chance to express their views.
A further opportunity to outline your likes or dislikes is now arising through the village survey which is being conducted over the next few weeks. If our public meetings are anything to go by, we expect there will be a great response. We have left an open panel in the survey document for you to state your opinion on anything not covered in the questionnaire. Our promise is that your views will not be disregarded and we will do our utmost to address some of the most topical issues, if not them all, over the life of the 5-year plan. If the various capital funding schemes, such as Town and Village Renewal, Rural regeneration etc., favour us with capital allocations, then the work of upgrading our village and its facilities can commence. One thorn among the roses is that we have to find 20% of any funds allocated to us. But that’s for another day. Let’s see if we get the capital input first. This could be an exciting year for us if all goes to plan…..outlining the protection of the beach, finalising the Greenway from Rosslare to Waterford, re-ordering the traffic flow and parking in the village, and so many other projects. In the meantime, don’t forget the Gardaí will address a public meeting on crime and security next month. This has been arranged at the request of Rosslare Development Association. The date is APRIL 10 at 7pm at the community centre. Attending will be Garda Liaison Officer Sgt. Brendan Moore and regional officer Mick Lee, along with Margaret Quinn of Muintir na Tíre who is a specialist in community alert development. Don't miss it. Put it in your diary for April 10. Ray Doyle Thank You Our thanks to Cllr Ger Carthy who has gotten the Burrow Road added to 2020 roads program.
