Synopsis

“Shrek the Musical”, based on the Oscar winning DreamWorks film that started it all, brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to dazzling new life on the stage.

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre — not a handsome prince — shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand...and his name is Shrek.

History

“Shrek the Musical” held an out-of-town tryout at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle from August 14, 2008 to September 21, 2008. It began previews at The Broadway Theatre on November 8, 2008 and opened on December 14, 2008. Directed by Jason Moore and choreographed by Josh Prince, the production featured Brian d’Arcy James, Sutton Foster, Christopher Sieber, John Tartaglia and Daniel Breaker. At the time, it was the most expensive musical to open on Broadway.

“Shrek the Musical” closed January 3, 2010, after 441 performances, 37 previews, and a 12 month Broadway run.

Who’s Who In Our Cast & Crew Brother in “Suessical”, Fender in “Hairspray” and Prince Dauntless in “Once Upon A Mattress.” He also has performance experience outside of NVTHS. His roles as Secretary of his class, Secretary of National Technical Honor Society, Vice Precident of Tri-M, a member of the FIRST Robotics Team, a Kick-Off Mentor, and a member of the NVTHS Chorus demonstrate his commitment to this school.
