The animals that live with the human family maintain the mentality of cubs throughout their lives, they do not need to grow up, and therefore never grow up. We are willing to accept that these animals are "alienated" and become pets, but we are always alert to the alienation of humans. If modernity is regarded as a process in which capitalism separates and alienates human beings from nature through industrialization, capitalization, and urbanization, can returning to nature enable human beings to eliminate alienation? Can pets be freed from alienation by putting them back into nature? I tried to find evidence of our alienation through photography, but I found vitality in these images. Maybe alienation is just a process, and not a binary. How far have we come on the road of alienation? Where should we go?
