Bossier Animal Control construction delayed STACEY TINSLEY Bossier Press-Tribune A new Bossier City Animal Control building is still coming, just a little later than planned. “They added 55 days because of COVID-19 and rainy weather. So we are hoping to have this project finished in September,” said Dale Keeler, superintendent of Herbicide, Mosquito and Animal Control. Earlier this year construction crews broke ground on a renovation project to give a much needed makeover to the

Renovation plans include adding an adoption center, animal control offices and separating the adoption center from the animal control offices. “We’re going to have to rely a lot on our rescue partners and citizens to
come foster or adopt the animals,” said Keeler. While renovations are taking place, citizens can still come and adopt an animal. “We are asking anyone who is interested in adopting an animal to please visit our website first and have one picked out before coming to our office,” said Keeler. Once renovations are completed, the new facility will have roughly an additional 2,200 square feet on the adoption side and 700 or 800 hundred additional square feet for office space.

STACEY TINSLEY Bossier Press-Tribune Thursday evening, the Louisiana Senate Committee on Education conducted a hearing to discuss the return of K-12 schools in Louisiana. The hearing featured presentations by Dr. Cade Br umley, Superintendent of Education, and Dr. Courtney BRUMLEY Phillips, Secretary of the Department of Health. Dr. Brumley’s presentation included highlighted guidelines which included physical and environmental standards, transportation, personal hygiene, monitor symptoms, food preparation, meal service and group sizes. “The information that we shared out today is dated intentionally at the bottom updated June 24th, 2020. Police Jury meets today
Here is what you need to know FROM STAFF REPORTS Bossier Parish Administrator Bill Altimus has announced the Bossier Parish Police Jury will follow the Governor’s directive not to hold public gatherings in excess of fifty-percent (50%) of the total occupancy as determined by the State Fire Marshal for its meeting on We d n e s day, July 1. As provided by the Gove r n o r ’s order, the Jury will meet in ALTIMUS person and limited members of the public will be able to be in physical attendance. Altimus’ official statement reveals the following guidelines: To comply with the Louisiana Governor’s Proclamation 83 JBE 2020 limiting public gatherings in excess of fifty-percent (50%) of the total occupancy as determined by the State Fire Marshall, public attendance will be limited at the meeting site. For those in attendance, the individual will be required to wait outside the courthouse and when the item for which the individual would like to provide comment, let your presence be known and you will be allowed in one at a time to make your comments. The public waiting outside the courthouse will be dispersed in accordance with current public health guidelines. In addition to the previous precautions, the meeting will be live-streamed via the Bossier Parish Police Jury Facebook page beginning at 2 p.m. for the regular meeting.
