Aroundthebranches

Throughout 2023 our branches were kept busy with a consistently high footfall that increased from an average of 389 in 2022, to 431 in 2023.

Providing great customer service isn’t just about the time spent serving customers over the counter and on the phone. It’s also about maintaining the right stocks of the right products, making sure that staff members have the correct skillset and a high level of product knowledge, maintainingareliabletransportfleet,

RoofbaseSwansea

Swansea were delighted to win the roofing tender last year for supplying Swansea City Council and are grateful to Craig Nicholson for his help in winning the contract. Joe Mahoney was another Swansea team member deserving of mention, as he was promoted from his yard role to a sales positionwithinthebranch.

Swansea installed new racking last year, ready to add Cembrit Plank to their stock profile. They also invested in two new trucks fortheirdeliveryfleet.

RoofbaseAshtonVale

Ashton Vales have been expanding their warehouse racking to free up valuable space in their yard, allowing them to carry higher stocks of roof tiles and other core products. The additional racking is also in preparation for extending their roofline rangethisyear.

completing on-time deliveries, and much more.

Yet despite managing all of this on a daily basis, all nine branches implemented changes and improvements during the year. Here is a summary of some of those activities.

RoofbaseGloucester

Gloucester unveiled their new training room in 2023 and have already held a number of customer training courses, with more lined upfor2024.

The branch expanded their EPDM range and saw their sales of the product grow as a result. They also installed new racking to house their roofline range, which has resulted in improved merchandising for the products.

RoofbasePlymouth

Plymouth continued their strong VELUX sales in 2023. The branch has become known locally for having a large stockholding of VELUX products, and this has helped them become not only Roofbase’s highest selling branch of VELUX, but also one of the highest sellers of VELUX inSouthWestEngland

RoofbaseExeter

Having identified liquids as a growth market, Exeter increased their stocks and improved their merchandising of the product range. They were also delighted to gain their first solar sale in January, after Exeter’s Charlie Johns worked closely with Solar BDM Matt Rodrigues to securethebusiness.

The customer is delighted with the products and services and looks set to provideExeterwithrepeatSolarbusiness.

With a full range of roofline stocks, and the expertise of Gary Dawson, their inhouse roofline expert, Exeter remained strong on their sales of roofline products in2023.

RoofbaseBristol

Bristol have been busy installing new racking and mezzanine flooring and adding 30 new bays for roofline products. This has been part of a warehouse restructure to increase stocks and visibility of insulation, liquid roofing products, and their roofline range It has helped them create a tidier, wellmerchandised shop area, and as Bristol General Manager Gary Bush said, ‘a tidy shopmotivatespeopletobuy.’

As well as the warehouse restructure, Bristol were busy recruiting staff in 2023, and this year they will be investing in training, development, and team bonding, to ensure seamless integration, knowledge transfer, and a culture of continuous improvement, propelling the branchtoevengreaterheights.

RoofbaseCardiff

Cardiff expanded their range of single ply, timber and torch on felts in 2023 and are lookingtoincreasetheirliquidrangethisyear. They are also installing new racking for their PVC products, as part of their endeavour to improve the merchandising of roofline products.

Another development in 2023 saw the Wales National Roofing Training Group (WNRTG) relocate to Roofbase Cardiff’s premises. This movealsosawLesleycombineherWNRTGrole with her new position as Roofbase Training Manager.

RoofbaseLeicester

Leicester have new racking on order as part of a yard and warehouse restructure that will see them increase their product offering, includingtheadditionofnewrooftileranges

Towards the end of 2023 Leicester installed directional signs at the junction of New Star Road and the busy A563. The branch is at the end of a cul de sac, so the signs have helped to increase their visibility and have resulted in newcustomersvisitingthebranch.

RoofbaseSwindon

In 2023, Roofbase Swindon opened the doors to their new dedicated training room They have already held several product training sessions for their customers with more plannedforthisyear.

To keep up with their ever-growing customer base, the Swindon team welcomed a new HGV driver,withanew18-tonnetruckarrivingsoon. Swindon are also expanding their roofline range, with new profiles and colours being takenintostock.

Under the direction of Flat Roofing BDM Ken Giddins, the Roofbase Flat Roofing Range continues to grow. Here are some of the key areas of growth we have seen over the past year.

November 2022 saw the beginning of the partnership between Soprema and Roofbase. Starting with Roofing Merchant torch on felts, the range developed during 2023, and now includes single point insurance backed guarantee systems and the Versitex range of PVCsingleplymembranes.

The Sikaplan roof assured PVC single ply membrane range was offered to Roofbase in partnership with Sika in 2022. Now all Roofbase branches sell the Sikaplan range from stock, and they all have newly trained Roof Assured installers amongsttheircustomerbase.

Now offering BroofT4 compliance, TRC EPDM has transformed the Roofbase sales of EPDM membrane. This has resulted in a huge rise in demand for in-branch EPDM training from an ever-diverse customerbase.

Chesterfelt, manufacturers of bituminous torch on, and pour & roll products, have been purchased by Soprema, giving Soprema a UK manufacturing base. As Chesterfelt was already widely stocked in the Roofbase branches, this acquisition by Soprema has helped to further strengthen an already strong Roofbase/Sopremapartnership.

Once complete, this brochure will allow our teams to provide the answer when customers ask what product they need in order to achieve a particular u value on a project. The brochure will also include an installation guide, which will include details about airgaps, batten placement, and other helpful information. This will be an extremely useful tool, and one which is in line with our determination to provide the bestpossibleservicetoourcustomers.

As well as being the Roofbase go to insulation person, Nicki is involved with the Raise the Roof Group, taking part in events like walking over the O2 to show empowerment to all and that anything is possible!
