Year:2023

Objective: St Regis Hotels and Resorts recently purchased a newly built and unique residential building located by the riverfront of Diamond Island, Phnom Penh, Cambodia The project's aim is to design the entire five-star level hotel for St Regis

St Regis designs their hotels with the conceptualization of their chosen country while maintaining its original designs

One of Cambodia’s most tragic and unforgettable historical moments was the Cambodian genocide of the Khmer Rouge The movement caused Cambodia’s development to drastically fall back extravagantly.

The design concept of the hotel is an idealization of a what-if. The Cambodian citizen’s biggest what-if has always been ”What if Cambodia never underwent its fall?” What would the country look like? This project did just that.

The hotel combines traditional designs, materials, and colors such as wood trimmings and clay roof tiles alongside Cambodia’s current modern designs

Bohx is a fictional company that retails in record players, record discs, speakers, and headphones

To popularize the brand and products in the country, they are participating in pop-up store events The structure of the store is based on the design of a standard turntable/record player The columns holding the room are a needle/stylus. There are two round shapes in this structure, the full circle is

a glossy floor representing the record discs and the second is a carpeted floor visualizing a slip mat

FROM INTERNSHIP

WiththeprogressionofmoderndesignsinCambodia,theaimof theprojectistodesignanattractiveandcomfortablespacewhere localswouldfeelhappytolivein.

This section of the portfolio is composed of work from 2 months of internship with a local townhouse company, Borey Lim Chheanghak

The internship allowed me to work on a tighter schedule allowing me to focus on completing the work Unlike working on projects for the school, my input ideas revolved more around the clients and the company rather than my opinions.

In this internship, I worked under the senior architect of the company I had the opportunity to work for private clients personally asking the boss for help as well as working on concept projects for future designs for the company. This allowed me to experiment with how different materials and colors would look in a certain space of an interior

RESIDENTIALGATE

PHNOMPENH,CAMBODIA

Type:Residential

Year:2023

ProjectType:PrivateVilla

The current design of the gate does not match the overall facade of the house. The palm trees in the front of the house have not been easy to maintain its beauty.

The redesign is an opportunity for the house to look as a whole and not as two separate houses.

The redesign process of this gate took a decent amount of time because there were mixed opinions among clients In conclusion, the clients wanted a modern gate design that's built into the existing columns and would cost as little as possible.
