RCR Arquitectes is a Spanish architecture firm founded in 1988 in Olot, Spain, by Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem and Ramon Vilalta.

- RCR projects’ origin lie in architecture, landscape, design, and art.

- RCR focus on details within their projects, such as furniture, sanitary ware, lighting, handrails and small objects at a point of intersection between the industrial and the artisanal, which is born from a deep knowledge of the material.

- One of their most used materials is Cor-ten steel.

- Key themes of their work include the connections between indoor and outdoor spaces, acknowledging the passing of time, structure and materiality, and the dematerialization of their spaces.

La Cuisine Art Center is a cultural center devoted to culinary art, regarded as an important activity tied to the territory and to the agricultural and cattle culture.

It is located on the banks of the Aveyron River as it flows through Nègrepelisse, a tiny rural community in the French Midi-Pyrénées region.

The architects bought the former Barber foundry, which had been built at the beginning of the twentieth century, for their office in 2004. The office is divided into three sections: a double-height library that runs the length of the building, a second structure with workstations that opens into the courtyard, and a new glass-enclosed pavilion supported by iron columns.

The historic elements: wood, stone, and ceramics contrast and interact with the new steel and glass that were added to create very useful and inspiring rooms.

The internal courtyard spaces’ trees and ferns create both a separation and a connection between architecture and nature.

In Olot, Spain, RCR has built a semi-open event and banqueting space near Le Cols restaurant. The removed stone was reintroduced to the site in the form of walls, embankments, and pavements. To protect against the weather, the entire space is covered by a lightweight, t ranslucent roof. The steel catenaries that support the roof give it the appearance of “floating,” while the practically undetectable acrylic furniture lets the people, food, and scenery to take center stage.

RESEARCH THE MURABA RESIDENCE Palm Jumerah, Dubai Muraba Residences is located on the Eastern Crescent in Dubai's Palm Jumeirah by RCR Arquitectes. It won the 2017 Pritzker Prize prizewinners, and it was RCR's first residential project.

Consisting of 46 apartments and 4 penthouses, each of them with an open view of the Ocean right along Dubai’s iconic skyline.

The seamless transition between outdoor and internal spaces allows the surrounding nature to be effortlessly integrated into the architecture of the building.

Balconies

The luxurious apartments feature glass louvres on both the exterior and the interior, giving the facade a sense of tranquillity and serenity. In addition, its interior reflects its modesty and simplicity.

The interior spaces are “stylish and livable, carefully considered to ensure fluid movement between living, dining, sleeping, and guest areas,” according to the architects’ statement.

The balconies are unique in that they connect the louvres with the design of the balconies, giving the impression that the balconies are floating and detached from the louvres.
