Combining community outreach with almost complete modularity nect youth and education through fun and interactive design ing hopes to innovate on any cultural or scientific changes materials it connect to Fremantle’s sense of enviromentality

modularity, the Fremantle Community Centre strives to recondesign. With an open floor plan and ample storage the buildchanges as time passes. Utilising both recycled and sustainable enviromentality and pass it forward to future projects.

The exteiror form primarily driven by opening itself towards the Fremantle city center operated on many levels primarily in tandem with the wall and northearn window system. Connecting with the adjoining park with the terraced garden it aims to engage the local population at all times of day.

The interior form deriving from the angle of the roof sweeps alongside it creating grand open spaces available in a quiet and relaxing pace. Combining CLT columns with rammed earth construction kept the structure light and grounded to Fremantle culture.

435 RIDGEVIEW DRIVE - ARCH2024 RESIDENTIAL DESIGN STUDIO - REVISITED SEPTEMBER 2024

Nestled deep in the rolling Pinjarra hills, this secluded artists retreat aims to provide a private and serene experience to work and escape too. The heavy green roof and concrete form make it almost completely impervious to the forest fires that are common in the Pinjarra area. Combined with the lock and leave mentality of its heavy doors and storage system the structure allows for an adaptive design perfect for the heating climate of Western Australia.

STREET

Deaf Design Principles

Adapted from DeafSpace design and areas of research around it contextualised for the urban landscape of the Perth CBD.

Colour

Reducing eyestrain with specific colours that contrast humans.

Wayfinding

Visual and touch based information to allow for traversal without needing verbal cues.

Awareness

Utilising pourous or translucent materials to allow for awareness but still keep privacy.

Traversability

Allow for undisturbed signing where conversations can hold eye contact without heavy elevation changes

Inclosure

Taking care to not expose deaf peoples backs to threats not seen visually.

Tactility

Non-visual indicators through material to allow for easier wayfinding within the urban scape.

Interaction

Allowing correct distance between two people allowing for signing without collision or inhibitance.

Sitelines

Site Overview

Strengths

Curved areas improves sitelines and limit collisions created with lack of hearing.

It is a key point for communities to connect around the hospital shared with friends and family

Weaknesses

Minimal shade on the and a lack of public transport makes it harder to relax or pass through.

Core Design

Combining the deaf design principles a set of rules to design

Pedestrian Safety and Awareness

Bringing attention to the pedestrians to slow down traffic by reminding them they are there by creating signifiers along the road.

Public Transport Ease and Quality

Allowing safe and comfortable ways to get on and off of stations with visual and tactile indicators to guide them without sound

Greenspace and Shading

Connecting unused green space to public transit that are both fun and comfortable to inhabit catering towards design that allows for sign language.

Street Site

Opportunities

There is some places for green space to be implemented and create a connection to public transit.

Design Principles

and gap analysis outcomes to create design an ideal bus stop.

Threats

Redistrabuting traffic and handling safety with comfortability is the largest threats in the site.

Communication

Ensuring spaces have the room for signing and visual communication unblocked both in movement and standing still.

Gap Analysis Outcomes

Creating a list of design criteria from the gaps found within the Perth CBD for not only differently abled but all pedestrians.

Mobility

A lack of easy and comfortable sidewalks discourages use.

Shade

Almost no shade on the entire streetscape makes it hostile and uninhabitable. Some trees.

Lighting

There is no inbetween complete darkness and blistering sunlight making it uncomfortable.

Wayfinding

The site is in a straight line but interaction on crossing becomes slow and uncomfortable with no shade.

Traffic

Fast straight roads create a hostile environment to walk next to with heavy traffic.

Comfort

The streetscape has no seating or shaded seating making it harder to have a break or conversate

Public Transport

Lack of quantity and quality of CAT buses make it harder to get to the site and encourage driving.

Dead Space

Alot of uncomfortable and unused spaces create dead zones along this section of the street.

Lighting and Colour

Easing the eye strain for deaf people by diffusing lighting and human contrasting colours to impropve the space for not only deaf people but everyone.

Visibility and Safety

Utilise materials that are both sustainable and aesthetic to allow for sitelines for deaf people that create safety. Can be both pourous and translucent materials.

THE PORTAL CITY

THE YEAR 2124 - ARCH3027 DIGITAL FUTURES - DESIGNED JUNE 2024

Delving into the year 2124 this project presents the idea of the “Portal City” a world whos destructive cycle has stayed churning as it slowly engulfs itself. Its one respite has come in the form of the artificial wormhole as various commercial superpowers fight to industrialise it. Primarily displayed through a 3 minute video exploring the world, we join a lowly worker as he goes to explore the new world.

GROUP PROJECT

DESIGNED WITH KIRA AMIDZIC

Work divided evenly with Kira handling the modeling and ideating for the second and third stages while I handled the first stage modeling and production and animation of all stages in Unreal Engine. Graphics presented produced by me.

NARRATIVE

As you travel over the cityscape through the train, you approach the outer shell containing the wormhole. The tangibles of immensity of scale and different, curved geometries make the shell appear surreal and out of place, like it doesn’t in this industrial city. This envokes a sense and curiosity. As you look back at the company feel small and inconsequential through the towering vertical leading lines and the ominous orange hue, contrast in vibrancy highlight the corporation’s power.

BUILDING TO PORTAL | EXTERIOR

Inspired by the mega cities of films like Blade Runner we delved to create a city void of human life

sense of unease tower, you towering scale, hue, where the power.

NARRATIVE

Once you enter the portal room, all your worries dissipate as the vibrant colours and advertisements promoting the new world and its utopian opportunities draw you in. The use of the vibrant complimentary colours of yellow and purple bounce off the reflective materiality of the space to create an exciting, energetic environment that intices you further towards the portal, accentuated by the use of symmetry.

However as you walk closer and closer, you realise that in the shadows you are being watched by mysterious figures. This subtle eerie and foreboding tone is set through the use of chiaroscuro and a low point of view. This effect is subtle and is discovered as you are intitally lured into the energetic scene that provided you with a false sense of security.

THE PORTAL

OTHER WORLD ENTRANCE | INTERIOR

THE

OTHER WORLD DEAD AND ALONE

Creating a mix of alien architecture and mand made industry created a incredibly unsettling area perfect for the finale of the sequences.

NARRATIVE

Despite all the warning signs, you travel through the wormhole, and are met with the shocking discovery that you are not in a utopian parallel universe. Rather, you have been sent to harvest the other world’s fissile resources to benefit your employers, left abandoned in this desolate world.

The use of contrast, lighting and chiaroscuro is used as the world is in black and white, therefore the contrast between the architecture’s shadows interacting with the world’s lighting is used to create this desolate, isolating and hopeless environment. The distinct change in architecture style from modern industrial to skeletal structures emphasise the isolation and abandonment you are experiencing within this environment

NYITTING YARN FOR ALL

GREAT NORTHERN HIGHWAY - INAR2022 PHILOSPHY AND PRACTICE - DESIGNED MAY 2023

This communal art space envisions a space that connects urban visitors with Nyungar culture, emphasizing sustainability, indigenous representation, and environmental harmony. Situated north of Perth on the Great Northern Highway, this design integrates rammed earth, local wood, and a communal firepit to create a sense of connection to country and country culture. Inspired by indigenous-led designs, it prioritises authenticity through community input, blending indoor-outdoor elements that honour the bush. This project fosters cultural appreciation, engaging visitors with Australia’s indigenous heritage and reshaping the urban perspective on both indigenous art and rural Western Australia.

WORKPLACE CONTRIBUTIONS

Over my internship I did a variety of tasks for the company ranging from documentation to early design sketching but the most refined project I got to do was designing a tiny home for disaster relief. Creating something both portable and comforting we worked in small groups slowly branching off until I came up with this final concept. Compactable and transportable by shipping crate this design was made to be immediately setup in the event of an emergency with equal amounts of comfort and adaptability for people and their possessions.
