I have always been inspired by architecture as a practice that impacts the human mind, a space can generate an emotion, can start a conversation, can inspire innovation or can help in relaxation. I think that a space is perceived as well as used, possibly visually or through other senses. I aspire to learn and create architecture with these lenses.

I believe that architecture is a constant learning process, the more you explore - more it has to offer.

M i x ed use develop ment Sem 6 | Gurugram, Har yana | Group of 2 The project brief was to create a mixed used development of 30% retail and 70 % residential + office spaces in an upcoming 200mts commercial belt in Gurugram, Haryana.

The site was being developed by Vatika Builders beside their residential development.

SITE PLAN

Deconstructivism literally translates to the breaking down, or demolishing of a constructed structure, whether it being for structural reasons or just an act of rebellion. It is perhaps for this reason that many misunderstand the Deconstructivist movement.

The intent is to respond to the linear rectangular site by breaking the orthogonality of spatial arrangement.

•

Breaking the grid three dimensionally would make the structure intriguing and would invite more people in the building.

•

By creating non linear arrangement of spaces, small pockets are formed which can be developed into landscape features or access points.

The Structural System of the building is basically a vierendeel girder system where the trusses are putting the load on the 3 shear walls present in the core on the 4 sides.

•

Due to the system we get column free space on alternate floors.

•

No need for service floors or other means to change the column grid.

The Retail is of 3 floors with the Ground floor having all the entries.

•

There are 2 major drop offs on ground floor, Retail + Residential and Office and then the road slopes down for the entr y to the Basement.

•

The idea of non orthogonal shaped glass for retail shops to create a visual aesthetic of deconstructivism.

•

i ncubation center Sem 5 | Hyderabad, Telengana | Individual The project was to develop an incubation center for around 150 start ups in Hyderabad, Telangana. The center was a part of a larger development called “Center of Urban Excellence” which included an Expo, Auditorium, Cafeteria, Library, Guest Houses, Admin and an Incubation Center.

Had to design an interactive open office space with scope for research and teaching spaces as well.

C afeter ia des ign Sem 3 | Dhanyakuria, West Bengal | Group of 3 The site of 270 sqm. is present in Dhanyakuria, a small village in West Bengal. The Village is known for its huge Mansions which were built by some rich families which made their trade with the British. Dhanyakuria lacks a common gathering place for the visitors, the project is in addition to the development of the villages’ tourism requirement.

•

As Dhanyakuria lacks a common gathering place for the visitors, we incorporated that by providing seating space along a visual element of view of the pond that will keep the place interesting.

•

Subtle curves and straight end orthogonal elements in order to blend of the colonial and irregular Bengali vernacular architecture and create a good view from outside; enhancement in curves.

•

As proceeded towards North, the site gets divided into 3 categories:

A RT A ND CRAFT CE NTE R Sem 4 | New Delhi | Individual The project is development of a 3 acer site in central Delhi. Site has the existing National Gandhi Museum , in addition to which an art and craft center is developed which has training centers of 3 crafts, named Dhurrie Weaving, Tuma Craft, Wood Carving. The site also has stay and exhibition facilities with a cafeteria and auditorium included.

•

Dividing each craft in such a way that there is a sense of Individual Communities and also come together at a Common Space.

•

The OAT and Exhibition Area acting as the central attraction of the design thus at the center of the site with all the spaces focusing towards this space.

•

Play of shadows help emphasize creativity of the space.

•

All the spaces have recreational spaces and sit outs around them.

•

The feeling of exploration to be emphasized by :

1. Pathways along trees.

2. Site is revealed as the visitor moves in.

3. Feeling of calmness and exploration. “ Dhurrie Weaving : A worker working in a pit loom with the machine resting on the ground ”
