Bond by the water and the land I am protecting you Is the blood from the ones who breath rush is the memory from the time remarks us with this we bring two stories of two contrasting coastal side of this world different fineries different world different customs to remind, all the differences faces the same uncertainties

The issues this world facing are the same, climate change.

Thus, external factors from people still remain the biggest factor that rooting and in need of influence by outside factors.

This documentation is born by a realization of authors about the forgotten matters. The matters created to understand the problem with the flood that we face. One must acknowledge what is actually happening within the people. Bremen and Jakarta both face climate change, yet the people have a different ways to approach their problem with flooding water.

Asides of reveal the two different ways to protect the communities from flooding, this documentation also aims as a memento to prevent the uncertainty that might happen to the coastal community if we don’t rethink our future.

The submission picturing the problem Jakarta faces when flood occurs. It happened so often, the flood protection system in Jakarta were unable to protect the community anymore. people now waiting the future to happen while hoping for its best.

Collectivity suggests the shared opinion, emotion that bond the people together. people are the main actors in this world. Human being are the ones narrated this life. How the collectives think, it is the thing that would reflected to the surrounding, and how this world would maneuvered.

Hochschule Bremen 2022/23 Both Jakarta and Bremen faces the same thing that could worsen their area, climate change. But habits and problem from its people in Jakarta worsening the chance of flood in Jakarta were rooting. no water protection nearly prevent jakarta stopping from quickly sinking.

Water protection in Bremen in the other hand still working on doing the sudden possibility of flooding. Yet the Bremen people are more likely to understand the danger that they may face in simple action such as sorting the garbage.

In the beginning of exploration we try to immerse ourselves by collecting factuals in Bremen and its coastal communities. along the way, we realized the problem occurred in Bremen is also occurring in indonesia in one way and another.

The volume based on the depth of the river bed has caused the flood in Bremen and changes over centuries. Most of the high water in Bremen was pushed inland to Bremen resulting in the upswing of the port in Bremen.

Meanwhile aside from climate change, the problem Indonesia faces nowadays were mainly caused by carelessness and delayed acknowledgment from the people of Jakarta, which is a common problem faced by the Indonesian people. We then conduct a survey to grasp more about the people within the coastal community of Jakarta to know what is really happening in the dangerous flood risk area.

Things happened caused by fortification resulting in the loss of natural flood plains. The river lost most of its natural flood plains making the water less room to choreograph since the river got narrower. The tidal range increased to several meters when it used to be only about one meter around 1900.

The redevelopment of Bremen's old city area is motivated by the diverse demand of usage that opens the barrages only will be closed in case of flooding events, functioned to prevent the water level from rising above the existing flood protection level. Storms mostly become the cause of flooding for Bremen. It leads to massive flooding, where the wave would go upstream from Bremerhaven and reaches the city of Bremen within about three hours.

On the Weser, constant worry about flooding happened in the northern part of Germany . Storm struges the water pushing them making most parts of the city in risk of flooding with mostly severe floods with returning time of 700 to 1000 years. in some cases Bremen city center is the only area that is not flooded. in earlier centuries construction in bremen are built to protect Bremen against the flood. Since 1979, two barrages have prevented any storm surges from flowing into the Lesum and Ochtum tributaries of the Weser.

buildings in the most part outer part of Jakarta have been fully submerged. it is a sign and signal of what could happen to Jakarta if things do not change soon/ the rising sea level could not be the only reason for Jakarta’s sinking. Most of the damaged area is in the northern part of Jakarta. the blue areas showing the city's condition has worse done as it sunk since the 70s. Most of the land was sink by 25 cm a year where it should have something with people's lives that relates with it.

We realized that in order to make a sustainable communities, we have to start collectively. in this sense we gather people from Jakarta to share their experience with the flood and their community. we are hoping that it would act as reminder where in Jakarta there were little to none of things we can do to save the community only by collectively sharing the same mindset. While in Bremen the problem is not rooted in the people, this collective of thinking acts as the reminder of the possible flood and uncertainty would also happen in Bremen if the people would not critically act to save their surroundings.

Floods have always been a problem for the ones who face them. Reading about what happens in this world is one of the ways to prevent floods in most of the country. Understanding the core problem does not always come naturally but is always preventable.

The people in Bremen, Germany have less likely to worry about their people understanding the system saving the river area. In Germany, the trash collecting system and the people's mindset have collectively driven Yet, the worry has to be reminded since uncertainty still become a real thing when it come of saving their land.

Indonesia on the other hand has to have more depth of understanding that most of the flood causes are from its people. Attempts are urgently needed in Indonesia where changing people's mindsets, can not do much. The government solution does not help much anymore. It is still a bigger hope to Bremen encourage its people, mostly to remind the protection of the coastal communities to have their everyday choices rethought, at least while they can control it.

This documentation displays some of the people and occurrences that happened in Indonesia where we mostly can not control and protect our land by acknowledging it. Knowing the facts and reminding ourselves what is unseen and forgotten, makes us realize that every choice that we make, matters.
