Street food vendors serve aromatic pastéis de nata and crispy bacalhau fritters, while vibrant food courts and souqs present a myriad of global cuisines in lively settings. These souqs, filled with fresh produce and local specialties, thrill those discovering new tastes and ingredients. Upscale dining in Lisbon features sophisticated menus blending traditional Portuguese flavors with modern culinary techniques, providing unique gastronomic adventures. A dedicated food court ensures quick, delicious meals in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Lisbon truly is a food lover’s paradise, catering to all tastes.

The Overbrook, Castle-Heights, and Cyrville communities are highly diverse, with nearly 50% of residents being immigrants or refugees. Many face significant challenges, including economic hardship and limited access to housing, job security, and transportation. This reliance on public resources is critical, especially during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic. This assignment connects census data with daily urban experiences to highlight exclusion and resilience within these communities. By making this data tangible, the goal is to inform equitable urban design and policy, fostering collaboration between communities and scholars to envision more inclusive and just cities.

The redevelopment of 646, 642, 638 Somerset St. West aims to enhance the urban landscape while adhering to zoning regulations. The project focuses on community input and technical expertise to create a multi-use building fitting the Traditional Main Street (TM) zone. By maximizing buildable space and incorporating ground-floor commercial areas, it seeks to revitalize the area and contribute positively to the streetscape. Through site analysis and stakeholder consultations, preliminary drawings ensure compliance with municipal bylaws on height, footprint, and parking. This thoughtfully designed building reflects community values, fostering a vibrant, inclusive environment and catalyzing urban renewal.
