COMMUNITY ENGAGED DESIGN

Ottawa, ON 2024

The Overbrook, Castle-Heights, and Cyrville communities are highly diverse, with nearly 50% of residents being immigrants or refugees. Many face significant challenges, including economic hardship and limited access to housing, job security, and transportation. This reliance on public resources is critical, especially during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic. This assignment connects census data with daily urban experiences to highlight exclusion and resilience within these communities. By making this data tangible, the goal is to inform equitable urban design and policy, fostering collaboration between communities and scholars to envision more inclusive and just cities.
