So, why would we use an Elvis Presley song written by Mac Davis and Billy Strange back in the ’60s as the title of our book? Well, after well over 37 years in this industry, it has never been more apparent what a professional life and annuity agent needs from their IMO.

Gretl Rausch wrote in the May 2024 edition of Idtimemusic what the message was of the song. “It encourages the listener to let go of their inhibitions and live in the present moment. It inspires individuals to break free from social norms and live life to the fullest.”

This industry has changed a lot, even in the last two years. Remarkable, dividing changes, actually. An older agent may suddenly feel completely out of touch, and a new agent doesn’t know how to separate themselves from the crowd without spending a fortune. We’ve been watching this phenomenon occur right before our eyes.

We’ve done our best to cover all the bases for you.

I have always said to be successful in this business; you first must be “WILLING.” That means a dedicated focus to your practice to make it the best you can. You must treat your franchise as gold.

Secondly, you must know your product. How can you recommend without knowing the pros AND cons of what you’re selling? Doing the “right” thing for your client is a must.

Third, you must have a team. You can’t do all of this on your own. It’s impossible if you plan to be a category of one.

Fourth, you must have confidence in your ability. Fifth, you must ask for the business. While that seems so simple, it’s a task that many cannot come to terms with.

Finally, number six requires follow-up from the beginning of the sale until the end and afterward.

We know you can be truly successful if you can achieve these six “must-do” tasks. It’s what your practice is about.

What I can promise you is that if you follow our plan and process, I guarantee I will get you in front of more prospects than you have ever had before. That’s a strong statement, huh?

Let’s talk about the possibilities, beginning with training.

Each week since COVID began, we have been hosting training calls twice a week. “Coffee and Conversation” is both a product platform and concept discussions. We spent one hour per day (each is recorded so you can go back and listen to each segment) on what is happening in the industry, new product offerings, and live training. It’s also a wonderful way to interact with other professional agents, receiving and giving helpful hints on what is working in the field.

Basic training—if you’re a new agent, this type of training is invaluable. If you’re a veteran agent, it still doesn’t hurt to hear the basics again. We do this training live in various locations around the country. It’s a momentous day of training for new agents coming into your agency or even your staff. We offer two to three concepts to help agents get on their feet and run quickly.

“Family is Important to Me” Term Campaign Term Insurance with Accelerated Benefits is one of the best ways for a new or veteran agent to begin a campaign. Our campaign is complete with the agent’s own personalized book and wristbands. Scripted letters, emails, and funnels are just a small part of the campaign to help an agent thrive in this business.

Dinner Seminars

– For decades, we’ve watched some agents thrive doing seminars, and we’ve watched even more fail. As you know, typically, an agent will spend more than $7,000 doing a dinner seminar. That’s a huge commitment if you have never done one. It’s a different type of sale. There is so much at risk, and it’s hard for an agent to “cover all the bases.” The mailing company offers recommendations, but do they truly fit the type of client you want to be in front of?

They guarantee 40 people in the seats, and you might set appointments with 7-8 buying units, and in the end, you could come up empty. It hurts your self-confidence and your pocketbook. Thus, you don’t do it again. Well, we believe in seminars. It’s a terrific way for you to meet new prospects and a fantastic way for them to meet you! So, at the beginning of 2023, we developed a plan that has become our number-one prospecting system. In fact, RPG guarantees it!

Our system is about ¼ the cost, and if you are doing moderate production with us, it’s free for the mailings, lists, invitations, and more. Your only cost is the venue and food. The key is consistency and working with our staff and in-house mailing team. We prefer a smaller group with a higher net worth. But it doesn’t stop there. We believe the most important aspect is the follow-up. Our agents have done millions of premium dollars since we started. We have over ten dinner seminars to choose from. Some use accountants and attorneys, some are for yourself, some have PowerPoint presentations, and some do not.

Financial Seminars—We believe in the power of financial education and consider it one of the best prospecting tools available. Our seminars are once a week for two, three, or four weeks. We have developed prospecting material to help you develop conversations with employers, organizations, and churches.

Public Seminars—We have two excellent sources for public financial education workshops on retirement and overall financial education.

Small Business Concept- We believe this is the greatest opportunity available to an agent or agency. It’s the most underserved market in the industry. We have a complete program, including our book, “The Next Step – A Bold Approach to a Quality Plan,” designed for your individual use. It provides an employer with updated information about the tax credits available from the Secure Act 2.0 and is loaded with information concerning benefits for the employees and management/owners.

So, how can you increase your opportunities to reach new prospects? We’ve already covered our seminars, small business, Child Asset Builder, and Term campaigns, but let’s dive deeper.

Our Own Mail House—We’re strong believers in developing relationships in unique ways.

Customized direct mail has been highly successful for us. Sarah Tyner oversees our mail house operation. It’s important to her and her team that you get the biggest bang from your campaign. She is not only in charge of our dinner seminar setups, but she helps ensure success by the type of lists, invitations, and venues that are picked based on your individual branding.

Emails—My first thought when it comes to emails is that they are overused and not effectively done. We’ve built a program of “story-telling” seminars to help you garner a prospect’s interest. No, not one of two of them but dozens of them based on your truelife experiences. The objective is to have your prospect enjoy the contents of the email and develop a relationship with you.

RockStar Funnels—Back in 2019, I asked our Senior Vice President Amber Hayes, a music star in her own right, to find me the best rock and roll marketer. She did. And since then, we have helped turn several agents into industry stars. We did this with a one-of-akind “Plug and Play” marketing system using funnels. Today, almost all our agents have their landing pages for the funnel and/or campaign marketing. There are unique ways to use this type of technology, and we’re skilled in bringing this “one-of-a-kind” prospecting system to you. From a follow-up system of a community campaign to national advertising, we can help you reach heights you never thought possible before.

Events—We’re BIG believers in having events. From small to large. From having two to three couples invited to an evening out to have thousands in your backyard with national music acts. Let’s coordinate an evening dinner with a country music, blues, rock, or gospel legend where you invite 4 to 5 couples for a night of incredible storytelling. If you can think of it, we can build it.

Erin is my niece, Jim (one of the best financial planners in the country) is my son, Mallorie is my daughter-in-law, and Lucy is my granddaughter. Learn to tell a story, your story, and begin prospecting with it.

People love to know who they are talking to, just like you do. It helps you reach common ground with your prospects and clients.

We’ve been in the IUL space since 2002, offering Camp IUL in person and virtually. Yes, we’re raging fans, but we are quick to teach the pros and cons of this product. Only 14% of IULs are built for death protection,

while 86% are for accumulation. Knowing how to structure these plans in the client’s best interest is essential. In 2022, when the revision of the 7702 regulation came out, we took a giant step with several IUL carriers in truly providing an overfunded IUL as an asset accumulation vehicle. We provide specialized help on each of your cases, including underwriting. Our carriers include but are not limited to F & G, Corebridge, Symetra, Allianz, National Life, Lincoln, North American, Protective, and Pacific Life.

These day-and-a-half meetings are invaluable for your practice. Our “Seminars and More” training delves into the complete process of having consistent, new prospects to see. the seminars that we offer. More importantly, we teach you what to say after the seminars. We provide the complete follow-up campaign for you, including emails, texts, calls, and even scripting (as a guide) for the meeting conversation afterward.

The most underserved market in this industry is the small business arena. Our special training includes social intelligence, how to first develop a relationship with a small business owner, information about important tax credits, and the benefits of providing valuable insurance products and 401k’s to their employees.
