Darlene Cavalier, founder of the citizen science website platform SciStarter. org, is a well-rounded person who doesn’t fit the stereotype of a science nerd, although she’s had a lifelong interest in science.
Some notable citizen science projects include Stall Catchers, a gamified project where you can go online and earn points by finding the stalled blood vessels in scans of mouse brains used to study different aspects of Alzheimer’s. For their participation, citizen scientists have been cited in published papers in science journals.
