This is an idea we like to live and work by that reminds us daily to elevate what we do for our guests. In terms of giving back to the community, in the early stages of the corona virus global pandemic, the Colonial House Restaurant’s dining room was shut down. Although we were still able to do both to go and curbside our owner Kevin Beshara knew there was a lot of hungry, hurting people out there in the Black Hills. The one thing that makes us stand out from competition the very most is our amazing staff. Every business has employees but our indefatigable team members show up ready to blow out expectation and do amazing things every day. The most beautiful sound to an individual is their name being said aloud. That’s a huge part of how we keep our guests coming back. We learn their name and we have conversations with them. We’ve learned a lot of names and had a lot of conversations over the last 40 years and we do it because we love it. We provide all of their grooming tools, shampoos, dryer, etc. and when they are done we do the cleaning for them. What’s something your customers may not know about your business? Active emergency response, police and military working dogs are never charged for their self-serve washes. This is a great way to thank these working animals for their hard work. What’s your secret to good customer service?: Every client is important to me, and I’ll go out of my way to make them feel special. It doesn’t matter to me if they’re spending $5 or $500 – they’re the number one client when they’re dealing with me. And if something goes wrong,
I do my best to remedy the situation. I always want them to feel like they’ve been taken care of, and I want their experience with me to feel like a mini vacation! What are some of the things you do to give back to the community (charity work, donations, etc.)?: Besides giving out silent auction items for community events, my favorite way to give back each year is when I partner with Hobo’s Healing Heart to do Santa pictures with people and their pets! We missed 2020 because of the pandemic, but I’m excited for 2021 because I get to provide a safe location for the coming holiday’s event in my new studio space. Clients get to reserve a mini session package with a print included, and all the session fees plus a percentage of print sales go to Hobo’s Healing Heart. It’s one of my favorite times of the year!
