Cigar Wrappers: Judging a Cigar by its Address
It may look trivial, evaluating a cigar centered on what it seems like on the exterior. In the end, we are led to think that it's what's on the inside that actually counts. This may be true with some things - people, books, Tootsie Pops - but when it comes to pipes, the surface is really as critical while the inside. You're able to assess a cigar, at least inpart, by its wrapper.
The cigar wrapper, basically, consists of outermost leaves, created in the broadest the main tobacco plant. It's usually the first thing people discover- a wrapper that is broken or damaged will destroy a cigars status faster than Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky while in the Oval Office - also it performs a role in the taste of the cigar: the wrapper also partly sets the tone for how a cigar is defined.
