Breast Cancer Breast Cancer Awareness is an international health campaign organized every October to raise awareness about the importance of early detection, treatment, and support for individuals affected by breast cancer. How was your key club experience and what does key club mean to you?

I'm only a freshman but I have always been involved in the community and now in Key Club International. Although I have only been a member for a few months I have learned and have gotten some new experiences. My experience with Key Club International has gone well, I am able to do something that I enjoy that not only benefits me, but as well as many others. I have learned that Key Club International is something to keep you busy, but is totally worth your time.

Recently I have not been able to go to many events due to a numerous number of personal problems, and I have experienced kindness and great understanding between my fellow members and officers who get what I’m going through. Key Club international is a very social, and interactive club and I have experienced joy participating in our club's little games.

I have experienced responsibility, not to take this position lightly as an officer, but with fun, for us students to be dedicated to the task to be hard working , but also to create a fun and enjoyable environment for our peers, school, and community. Key club is not a club where you just pay so it can show to be on your college resume, but to actually participate, to bring food, to volunteer, and actually put effort in. In key club I'm surrounded by many people who may not have the same opinion as me, but are willing to listen and be respectful and not arrogant and blind to others opinions.

How is your club planning on implementing the Governors or District Project?

The Randall Highschool Key Club implements “Nourishing Futures” and “Uplifting Through Education” as the district and governor’s project.

For the district project, Nourishing Futures, we have participated in clean up services around our city including National Clean-Up Day back in September.

We will continue to do that service as time goes on.

Another service we do is Ronald McDonald every month. We provide help and meals for the families in need of shelter and food while their children are in the hospital.

For the governors project, Uplifting Through Education, we are serving a book club this month to support children and their literacy as they continue reading in and out of school. Back in August, we participated in supplying and donating classroom utensils for those who are new to highschool.

How does your club use social media to promote communication Randall High School is dedicated to getting the right information out to our community as soon as possible, and so we’ve made it a priority to not only share the dates and timelines we have for services and social gatherings, but to also show the joy our members feel when participating in such exhilarating events.

What might possibly be the most important aspect of key club is the connections we have with our communities. Thanks to the age of social media, this connection has been made stronger, longer-lasting, and easier to create than ever before.

Information meant specifically for members is given out using Remind, Google Classroom, and Group Me. These platforms have made it possible to share dates, locations, and attendance expectations with both casual members and the club’s board and president.

Anything that we’d like to share with the public is posted on the RHS Key Club instagram page (@randall.keyclub). Recents posts include details for a blood drive that took place in Randall’s commons area on September 26th. Additional information was given so that any non-Randall friends may donate in their free time, and who wouldn’t want to after learning that they can save a life by donating.

Key Club is more than just an opportunity for service at Randall, though. It’s also a place to grow closer with your peers and make friends you otherwise may never have been given the chance to know. We encourage these connections by promoting social events on our Instagram page, both by sharing the details of social gatherings and by posting photos of our members spending time together and strengthening their friendships.

What are the changes your club is planning to implement in your club this year?

The Randall High Key Club this year is focused on bringing more interactions and volunteer services. First, we would like to have more socials for our members to grow in relationships together. Right now, we usually only have one social a month for members to talk and hang out, but we decided to increase that. Each month will have around 2-3 socials for members to communicate and have fun together.

Our focus will also be put on service projects including Ronald McDonald every month along with donation drives. Food and book drives are currently in place, but many more are expected to come in the future.

Randall Key Club wants more membership interactiveness, so we created a point system.

The point system will occur with any activities that are participated by the members and materials donated for Key Club activities. Points are earned by attendance at meetings, filling out sign-up sheets, and going to socials/ events, and must have certain minimum points for being an active member. The system will increase the participation of members of many of our service projects or activities participated in.

The members of Randall Key Club mean a lot to us, so we started celebrating members of the month, birthdays, and services regularly. At our weekly meetings, all of our celebrations will be done for our Key Club members.

We are always looking for opportunities to expand our community to others, so we have interclub with other schools at many services we participate in. Volunteering at places with other school groups, allows members of our club to grow together with other Key Club members. Key Club is about growing as an individual and community so this year we plan to expand in many different areas for our members to have the opportunity to do so. - Ryan Shannon

How are your club’s meetings going so far?

Randall's Key Club promotes community service and leadership development while fostering companionship and unity among its members. We are proud to report that our recent meetings have been highly successful, thanks to engaging and effective icebreakers that help build a stronger collective identity among the members. Additionally, we have implemented a point system that incentivizes active participation and attention.

In a club like Key Club, where the objective is to encourage collaboration and teamwork, we highly motivate interactive behavior among members. Keyclub embraces the importance of icebreakers that not only get people talking but also help members connect on a personal level. These icebreakers create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, making it easier for members to open up, share their thoughts, and develop meaningful relationships.

Our icebreakers range from simple games that break the ice to thoughtful questions that encourage introspection and sharing. By providing a comfortable platform for members to express themselves, we promote an environment where our members feel esteemed, heard, and respected. It's all about making sure that everyone's voice is heard, which, in turn, strengthens the bonds within the group!

In the past, Key Club meetings sometimes felt like a collection of individuals coming together to complete community service hours. Key Clubs evolved to be a more effective and influential organization; we evolved from merely a group of volunteers to a tight-knit community that works together to make a difference.

Our recent meetings have highlighted the significance of establishing a more robust Key Club, and this shift in mindset has brought about a remarkable transformation. We now work together as a team, each member playing a crucial role in every project and initiative. This newfound emphasis on the group's well-being rather than individual interests has not only amplified our impact on the community. Still, it has also fostered a sense of purpose and community among our members.

One thrilling development in Key Club meetings has been implementing a point system. This system is designed to motivate members to actively participate in club activities and engage with the organization in various ways. Members can earn points through different actions, including turning in weekly forms on time, bringing snacks for volunteer events, and more.

The point system has significantly impacted member engagement by promoting a healthy sense of competition and accountability. Members are motivated to earn points not only for their satisfaction but also to contribute to the success of the Key Club as a whole. This fresh approach has ignited excitement and increased participation in club activities, ultimately strengthening the camaraderie among members.

Key Club is proud of the positive changes that have taken place during our meetings. The combination of effective icebreakers, a renewed focus on the collective, and the introduction of a point system has transformed our Key Club into a thriving, united, and motivated community. Our meetings have become more than just gatherings; they are now the heartbeat of our organization, driving us to make a more significant impact on our community.

As we progress, we eagerly anticipate enhancing the connections between our members, enabling a feeling of inclusion, and motivating our Key Club to reach new levels of accomplishment in community service, leadership, and personal development. Our weekly meetings are not mere events; they serve as the foundation of our joint triumph and the collective influence Keyclub has for future members.

How is your key club year going? What events have you gone to or enjoyed?

This is the first year I have been in Randall Key Club and I am so glad that I chose to be here. It's going really well this year and I'm so excited to see what we can do for people. It really is starting to feel like a community of people who want to come together and help those who need it. It has grown on me and I really enjoy being able to give back to the community that we live in with the friends I've made in this group.

One of the community outreach that stood out to me and that I particularly enjoyed was participating in the community service at the Ronald McDonald house. We had made seven pizzas of different kinds depending on what their preference is. I absolutely love cooking and it was fun to do it with my friends in a large kitchen. We were able to prepare food for families who are staying in the hospital for extended periods of time. Tons of families get help from the Ronald McDonald house and I'm happy that we were able to contribute. We could take a load of stress off of the parents of kids who are ill or of premature babies who need intensive care. It's so much fun cooking with your friends in order to offer help to those who need it.

Being able to do outreach is very important to me because I feel like I'm contributing to an organization bigger than myself. Knowing that I am helping families out makes me feel good and I'm happy that I'm able to do it with the Randall High Key Club.

Key Club So Far The Key Club is a very important piece of our community. It provides opportunities for volunteer work for the youth. My favorite part of Key Club is it gives me the ability to help people who need it. Every week Key Club gathers together in the Library every monday and announces a multitude of volunteer opportunities. Being able to help people is something I really enjoy. Even the simplest of volunteering opportunities can make a big difference. Just knowing that I’ve made somebody’s day a little easier makes me feel like I’ve done something good, and I hope that others feel the same way.

However I do wish that Key Club had a little more organization within the days before an important event. This was a critique I had before. Sometimes you don’t get the information for a volunteer event until the day of; which can make it a little difficult to plan especially for upperclassmen who may work. I do feel like our Key Club has gotten better about this, and the information ahead of time has become easier to find out.
