GARDENANDLIBRARY
THIS PROJECT TO DESIGN A LIBRARY AND GARDEN SPECIFICALLY FOR A CLIENT THAT INCORPORATES MULTIPLE PROGRAMS SUCH AS A LIBRARY FOR THE CLIENT AS WELL AS A GARDEN INCLUDING A BERM, A NORTH STAR VIEWING WINDOW, AN EXTRACTION, A WATER SEQUENCE AND AN ALLY OF TREES. THE REST OF THE DESIGN WAS LEFT TO US WITH THE USE OF MODU LAR AND SCALAR GRIDS THAT ASSIST IN THE APPLICATION OF MULTIPLE SLOT CONDITIONS AND VIEW POINTS. LASTLY WE WERE PAIRED UP WITH A CLASSMATE TO ALIGN OUR GRIDS AND APPLY SOME OF THEIR GRIDING INTO OUR PLANS OF THE GARDEN.

THIS PROJECT WAS BASED OFF OF THE GUIDELINES FOR THE LAGI COMPETITION. THE PURPOSE WAS TO CREATE A GENERATOR THAT SERVED WAS BUILT TO LAST AND SUPPORT ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVATION ALL WHILE CREATING AN ART PIECE AS WELL. MY PARTNER, ALEXIA SIMIONI, WERE APPOINTED THE TASK TO CREATE A WIND POWERED GENERATOR THAT SHOWS WIND AND MOVEMENT WHICH WAS SUPPORTED THROUGH THE WINDBELT TECHNOLOGY AS WELL AS HE ORIENTATION OF THE STRUCTURE.

THIS SHELTER IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES COURSE TO COME OUT COMPOSED OF THREE STUDENTS AND ONE PROFESSOR TO STUDY THE NATIVE SPECIES AS WELL AS WAYS TO PRESERVE THE LAND.
THE SHELTER USES A SERIES OF 3’ PANELS TO ASSEMBLE BETWEEN STEEL BEAMS.
THIS PROJECT WAS TO CREATE A TEMPORARY SHELTER FOR THE LAGI COMPETITION THAT WOULD BE POWERED BY THE GENERATORS CREATED FOR THE COMPETITION AND POTENTIALLY BE ALIGNED OR BUILT WITHIN IT.

THE EXHIBIT WAS DESIGNED TO HAVE ONE DIRECT PATH DOWN WHICH IS WHERE THE VISITORS WILL PRESENTED WITH A GREAT DEAL OF HISTORY BEHIND AULDBRASS, THE OWNERS, AND EVEN THE LAND THEY WOULD CURRENTLY BE STANDING ON. AT THE END OF THE JOURNEY THERE IS A SQUARE THAT AT THE CENTER WOULD HOLD VERY DETAILED INFORMATION COVERING THE HOUSE ITSELF.

HERE ARE SOME OF THE INITIAL STUDY MASSES AND MODELS THAT STRONGLY INFLUENCED THE FINAL DESIGN. THESE STUDIES BEGAN THE USE OF TWO GRIDS DIVIDING THE 300’X180’ AND A SMALLER ONE 30’X20’ TO FURTHER DIVIDE INTO THIRDS. THESE MASSES INTEGRATED STRATEGIES SUCH AS THE USE OF ALIGNMENTS, STACKING AND CARVING IN ORDER TO CREATE AN INVERTED TIERING SYSTEM.

THE RESULT OF THE COMMUNITY CATAYLIST CENTER WAS THE DESIGN OF A MULTIUSE BUILDING FOR RESIDENTS, OFFICE SPACE, AND PUBLIC PROGRAM. USING SIMILAR SCHEMES AS THE STUDY MODELS ALLOWED FOR THE CREATION OF AN OPEN CENTER THE FORM A PUBLIC PLAZA THAT IS THE TERMINUS FROM DOWNTOWN. THERE WAS A PREVIOUS PRECEDENT STUDY OVER LA TOURETTE THAT ALSO INSPIRED MANY THINGS THROUGHOUT THIS DESIGN. ONE VERY PROMINENT USE OF INSPIRATION WAS FROM THE USE OF MULTIPLE PROGRAMS AND HAVING THEM INTERTWINE SLOWLY, AS WELL AS THE USE OF STACKING TO CREATE BRISE SOLEIL.
