Reason for the rise of PODs

Reason for the rise of PODs A proof of delivery system is very much similar to a receipt. The only difference is that a POD is basically to prove that a delivery has been executed successfully rather than a purchase being made. For the logistics industry and companies with any delivery system, documents like proof of delivery (POD) are critical.

Why POD Matters? In any kind of delivery wherein products leave the warehouse and reach their final destination, PODs become significant as the accountability shifts from the merchant to the recipient. This process attains criticality when legal and financial documents get exchanged between two parties. The recipient of the delivered products will only sign if everything is in a good condition. So, just like receipts, PODs are acknowledgments that delivery is being received and taken into one’s possession. Though usually signed by the person named on the address panel, a POD can also be obtained in digital format.

E-PODs have broken the old threshold Electronic PODs or E-PODs help you get delivery details and an image of the receiver’s signature captured digitally. There are many E-POD software providers who have breached the traditional boundaries. Apart from capturing multiple photos, scanning barcodes and QR codes as proof of delivery, E-PODs also permit delivery drivers to record failed delivery reasons, customer comments, name of recipient, geo-location and time of submission, and much more. The requirement for PODs has touched new heights as deliveries happen on a daily basis buoyed by the growth of e-retailers. If you happen to be in the logistics industry or have a business with a delivery system, having the ability to provide EPODs is an absolute must.
