01. Who are we?

In these exciting and fast changing times, our goal at CSB is to educate pupils and to bring out their full potential by nurturing their learning and providing new possibilities. Our supportive staff create a unique experience that brings learning alive, while instilling solid values and essential life skills. Our broad, balanced, and structured curriculum provides a fertile starting ground for students from Nursery to Year 13. The vibrant atmosphere in our school is one of the numerous characteristics that makes us unique. In our school, we have achieved a caring and motivating family environment wherein students and teachers are the life-force that enables our school to develop and cultivate future generations of independent, creative, and logical thinkers.

Inspiring education in a caring community. Cambridge School of Bucharest measures its success by the wellbeing of its students and the strength of its community. 03. Complete the school across all year groups

As our facilities expand and we cement our relationships with multinationals and embassies we are committed to increasing the school profile and becoming parents’ first choice in the city. Our goal for NOR is 1400 and we are preparing for waiting lists across the Key stages, with Preschool places being reserved in the previous academic year. We believe that a full school will mean there are sufficient students in each group to ensure the school can offer a broad curriculum and extend the specialist subjects it offers at exam level. Additionally, there is plenty of opportunity for fluid friendship groups. It provides a stable school body, allowing a core group of students who remain at school from Preschool to Y13, while allowing for a small percentage of transient expat families. 04. Capitalise on a great “word of mouth” reputation

We are committed to establishing a strong marketing team to extend awareness of the school and its changing status. We will ensure the school becomes relevant to an increased number of entities both educational and professional. We aim to have 90%+ retention figures for students. Alongside traditional marketing methods we wish to enhance our word of mouth strategy which has to be credible, social, truthful, measurable and respectful. Competition is fierce in our market and so loyalty cannot be left to chance. We are working to Engage, Equip and Empower our families. Families have the gift of our time, we will hear what they like about CSB and what they need. We will give them reasons to talk about us, and ways to share conversations. We will also construct and enact a good neighbour policy to work with our community beyond the academic walls. We are committed to connecting and strengthening our community relationships.

05. Continue the school campus to provide Arts & PE facilities, with extensive catering and library spaces

The facilities of a school directly impact the overall learning process as well as the physical and mental growth of the students. We are committed to addressing the five main considerations, Students must have spaces to learn without unnecessary distractions so we focus on noise and acoustics in our buildings. It is imperative to ensure the air quality and ventilation is of a high quality and this is a priority in our planning. We know bacteria and pathogens breed where there is improper air ventilation, and therefore a healthy environment must have good ventilation. We know good daylight enables learning to take place at a much higher level so lighting is a vital consideration, we aim to capitalise on natural light as much as possible, and restrict time spent in artificial light. The temperature of the learning environment is an important consideration as learners lose focus when rooms are too hot or cold, we work with our architects to ensure the temperature can be controlled and is optimum for learning. Overcrowded classrooms hinder learning sue to minimal student engagement, and so we believe it is important that rooms are spacious and class numbers are kept low. We are committed to liaising with all departments to develop the school campus in a timely fashion.

06. An active, wellinformed Board of Directors having a consistent impact on the development of the school

We recognise that good governance helps a school to be more stable and productive by offering a clarity of vision, it models efficient processes, smooths running operations, financial stability and effective responses to external environments. We believe a solid Board of Directors reduces risk and school growth is faster and safer. With a support of the Board we aim to improve reputation and continue to evoke a great sense of trust. Our school board will meet 8 times a year with additional meetings as needed. Feedback to the board from relevant departments in the school along with regular dashboard data to confirm academic and operational targets on track. An annual report will be produced highlighting ongoing developments. Share a global vision for the development of CSB with clarity based on reflection.

07. Bi-annual meeting of advisors to support the school

We are committed to establishing professional relationships where we can exchange ideas on long term challenges, risks and opportunities. We feel a successful school is always looking forward and we encourage feedback and suggestions for our community along with any advanced perceptions that could be considered for improvement. We are keen that these meetings will be an independent and safe space for contributions. As the board is inaugurated we would like to establish a charter and grow its members. A community advisory board that allows for participation in the school development from a broad supportive group.

08. Considered environment aspects are at the heart of school decisions

We are committed that our students have an understanding of the importance of the resources we all to be aware of over-exploitation of resources. As a school we echo UNESCO’s view that to shift to a sustainable future, we need to rethink what, where and how we learn to develop the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes that enable us all to make informed decisions and take individual and collective action on local, national and global urgencies. We model the think globally, act locally initiative when making decisions about the building methods we use, our commitment to the environs and in particular the green spaces and wooded areas. Complete a LEED/equivalent qualification

09. Healthy sustainable practices

Our aim as a school is to challenge current usage of resources, and this initiative will involve staff, parents and students. We believe all children can learn energy saving habits that can last a lifetime, and these should be modelled at school. Sections of the school will be analysed to see where reductions can be made. Establish expectations for CSB with regards to norms for use of consumable and non-consumable resources. Reduce our carbon footprint by 25% and paper consumption by 50% (with 100% paper sent for recycling).
