Welcome! We believe that it is vital for parents to have as much information as possible before deciding on their child’s early education. We hope that the following brochure will be of both interest and value in helping you to make that important decision.
ABOUT US CSB is a community of happy, caring, and compassionate staff and students. Our team is devoted to making your child’s first experience in education an exciting time of exploration and creativity and to helping your child develop a love of learning that we hope will last a lifetime. Our teachers create a supportive learning environment wherein pupils can deepen their understanding of the world around them through play, observation, speech, and imagination. For CSB’s youngest learners, our goal is to develop the confidence to learn and explore, and to achieve resilience, independence, and persistence when encountering challenges. We aim to cultivate imagination and encourage our students to develop a deep sense of curiosity about the world and respect for all in their community.
KINDERGARTEN LEVELS Our Kindergarten is divided into three levels: Nursery 3–4 years old

YEAR 1 In Year 1, pupils are provided the opportunity to develop and advance both language and social skills, while building a foundation of academic aptitudes. Upon graduating from Year 1, pupils will have developed the numeracy, literacy, and expressive skills necessary to succeed in the Lower School. Year 1 Learning Areas include: English • • • • • •

OUTDOOR PLAY Outdoor play is an integral part of the early learning experience at CSB Kindergarten. Outdoor play stimulates imagination and promotes gross motor development and coordination, while allowing students to be active, noisy, and rambunctious. Outdoor activities create opportunities for students to explore their environment and to observe changes in the world as the seasons progress. CSB Kindergarten students enjoy regular outdoor play. Students play outdoor daily, excepting days with temperatures below zero or with heavy rainfall.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES CSB offers a comprehensive range of stimulating and purposeful opportunities and experiences. Our afterschool extra-curricular activities allow each child to explore and pursue her/his own interests and goals and enhances individual development. Our afterschool clubs and activities change on a yearly basis to best reflect the interests and talents of our student body. Extra-Curricular Activities typically include: Pottery Club, Karate Class, Ballet Class, Street Dance Class, Lego Club, Art Club, Introduction to French, Chinese for Beginners, Arabic Club, Intensive English Club.
FIELD TRIPS, COMMUNITY TIES, AND GUEST SPEAKERS We understand the importance of being engaged with the world around us. Through thoughtfully planned, curriculum-related field trips and guest speakers, we create opportunities for your child to connect with their world in an authentic and hands-on manner. Field trips and guest speakers also provide children with important enrichment and learning opportunities. Our field trips and speakers expose pupils to a variety of rich cultural resources within our local community that enhances development, deepens community ties, and cultivates understanding. In addition, our students become involved in the local community through several annual charitable campaigns. Student involvement deepens and changes throughout the school as our students age and mature.
HEALTH SERVICES Cambridge School of Bucharest has specialised staff that provide direct care to students. Under the direction of the school paediatrician, our full-time medical nurse conducts daily screenings to prevent the spread of infectious disease and to ensure the health and safety of the Kindergarten.
ASSESSMENT & REPORTING Parents receive daily feedback in the Daily Copybook regarding their child’s concentration, behaviour, eating, and socialising that day. This allows parents to monitor changes in their child’s behaviour and opens a line of communication between school and home. Students in Year 1 bring home assessments every 4–6 weeks that demonstrate their current levels of understanding and mastery of English, Reading, Mathematics, Romanian/ Chinese/Arabic and Science. Additionally, parents receive a detailed report each term on their child’s attainment of academic milestones and behavioural progress.
