Wildcat Mentors End of Year Bash
Ralph Wilson Youth Club partnered with Temple ISD and the Wildcat Mentor Board of Directors to host the end of year celebration for the Wildcat Mentors program. The Wildcat Mentor program partners community members with at risk youth at elementary and middle schools within Temple ISD. This year’s program had slightly over 100 youth participants who were paired with willing volunteers from our local community. The end of year celebration allows mentors and mentees to enjoy a fun filled excursion at the youth club. The group got to play basketball, video games, bounce houses, pool, ping pong and various other activities offered at the youth club. In addition, the RWYC Cook Team provided hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone in attendance. The event provided an exclamation point on a program that has a tremendous impact on our youth. If you know of anyone interested in being a mentor in the Wildcat Mentors program, have them contact Yara Thomas at yara.thomas@tisd.org.

Name: Makayla Kelley
High School: Academy HS
College: Temple College
Field of Study: Business
Why she enjoys working at RWYC? Makayla enjoys all the learning opportunities she gets from her interactions with the youth. And more than anything else, she loves the fact that no two days on the job are the same at RWYC.
Fact of the Matter: Although Makayla is in her first summer at RWYC, she has not hesitated to take on a increased role. Makayla has accepted the challenge of implementing two programs for the Summer of 2023. She has planned and implemented a floral design and cooking class for our youth. The floral program teaches youth how to cut, prune and arrange flowers in vases for presentation. The cooking class has taught our youth how to make pizza, spaghetti, cookies, and various options for breakfast.
CRW Construction Playhouse Project
Ralph Wilson Youth Club was the beneficiary of an in kind donation from CRW Construction. The in-kind donation was free labor on the construction of two 12x12 playhouses located within the youth club. The youth club was able to work with CRW Construction to design two different playhouses to service the male membership and the female membership. The playhouses provide a form of traditional playing for our youth that is within the climatized environment of the youth club. Due to the generosity of CRW Construction, the youth of our community have access to two clubhouses that promote physical activity and interaction with other youth.
New Furniture Purchase
The youth club takes pride in providing a welcoming and modern environment for our youth. As a result, the youth club needed to replace the furniture in several rooms throughout the youth club. The furniture was replaced in five areas of the youth club. The replacement furniture ensures that our youth are comfortable while watching movies, playing video games, or interacting with friends.
RWYC Feeds Local Altrusa Club for Annual Event
Ralph Wilson Youth Club continues to support the local club of Altrusa by hosting their biweekly meetings. By allowing use of the youth club free of charge, the group can increase their financial leverage to benefit needy groups / organizations throughout the community. To show appreciation for the local impact that Altrusa has on our community, Ralph Wilson Youth Club fed the groups entire membership at their April meeting. It has become a tradition that the youth club cooks their renowned 'Fajitas with All the Fixins' for the group at the meeting. The April meeting is special because it is the meeting where the Altrusan's recognize their Altrusan of the Year. Ralph Wilson Youth Club is honored to be able to host the Altrusans throughout the year, and even more honored to be able to provide the meal for their marquee meeting of the year.
