FOUR YYC Editor’s Note

The purpose of this magazine was to help individuals in the city look for food to eat and places to visit. A little bit about myself. I am currently a journalism student at SAIT. After my program is finished I will be attending Royal Roads University and get a communications degree. I am a huge sports fan. I love the Calgary Flames.

I have been a fan since 2004 when I was five. I enjoy cooking with family and love taking pictures. I love makeup and food. I love dressing up in traditional clothing. I decided to focus this magazine on places to eat and visit

in the city. I am born and raised in Calgary and I know this city really well. My magazine is filled with a lot of photos. The reason I created this magazine was for individuals who wanted to visit Calgary and explore. Also for people who live in Calgary as well that do not know much about our city. I worked really hard on this magazine. Hopefully, you will have fun reading this magazine as much as I had making this magazine. Looking for a place to grab some lunch and not knowing what you want you have come to the right place.

In the last couple of days.

I decided to try Cactus Club Cafe for the first time. I got the Prawn Spaghettini and it was absolutely amazing. My crostini tasted crunchy and had all the flavours.

Prawn Spaghettini is a restaurant favourite. The

spaghettini had some shrimp as well.

For a drink I got the new Kyoto Fizz. The Kyoto Fizz is a new seasonal drink the restaurant has this season. The Kyoto Fizz is the colour of yellow and purple and after mixing it with a straw it changes to pink.

The Kyoto Fizz consists of Japanese citrus fruit inside. It also has a great taste for everyone’s taste buds. At first I was hesitant to try it because I do not drink cocktails much and for me they do not taste the best. The cock-

tail was very refreshing and amazing. My server was probably one of the best servers I have had while at a restaurant.

For desert I got the White Chocolate Cheesecake and was the best cheesecake I ever have had.

Cactus Club Cafe was one of the best restaurants I have visited throughout my life.

They had everything I liked and enjoyed. The restaurant is also budget friendly as well and will not break the bank for you.

The Gateway is my favourite place to go to between classes on campus.

It has great atmosphere and is wonderful place to meet new people with great personalities.

I got a Pornstar cocktail to drink with my food and it tastes like a blue jolly rancher and it tastes like candy.

I got the Gateway Nachos and they were amazing. They were the best I had in a long time. The salsa was freshly made by the kitchen. The salsa had all the right flavours and spices. What I really enjoy about eating at the Gateway is everything is fresh and fantastic.

I also got the Piggy Smalls Tacos and they were incredible. I really enjoyed the pulled pork. The pork had all the right seasoning and melted in my mouth. I also got the OG Poutine

which was my favourite part of my lunch. The gravy and curly fries were nice and fresh. The only problem is that the Gateway does not have a dessert menu.

My server was amazing and kind.

Other people agree that the Gateway is the best place for lunch on campus.

These are a few great places to go in Calgary.

The Crave cupcakes are absolutely amazing.

Saddletowne Train Station a place to take the train to downtown Calgary for adventures. The Core is a great place to go shopping and have some fun.

Central Library was just renovated and made brand new. Absolutely love the library. After is a busker performing on Stephen Ave. Next is a Calgary Flames sign from 1989 Calgary Flames logo. The Flames are currently in the playoffs and are playing at the Saddledome. Last is a picture at a Calgary Flames game. Go check out a game when you are in the city.

BOSTON PIZZA

Boston Pizza has always been my favourite place to go with friends and family for food. My brother is a picky eater and he really enjoys Boston Pizza.

Sometimes it is difficult to go out and eat because of him. Food and family have always been an important part of my life. BP is family friendly.

I decided to get the Jambalaya Fettuccini. It is so amazing so good. It is a

restaurant favourite and is mine as well. The pasta was nice, fresh, and cooked thoroughly. This is the best pasta I ever had, The Italian sausage was cooked nice and seasoned well.

Everything about it makes me hungry. As I write this I am getting hungry and might go buy some.

The pasta sauce is marinated everywhere.

For dessert I got the Chocolate

CHOCALTE EXPLOSION CHEESECAKE

Brownie Addiction which was amazing. The brownies were nice and amazing. The combination of the ice cream and brownie melted really well in my mouth. I also got the Chocolate Explosion Cheesecake for dessert as well. The cake has always been my favourite part when I come to Boston Pizza. I absolutely love the cake. The cake is a fan favourite. The only reason why I go to Boston Pizza is to eat the cake. My whole family really enjoy the cake. My brother, sister, parents, and me love the cake. Whenever I come home from Boston Pizza I have to buy extra Chocolate Explosion Cheesecakes for my family to share and its worth the money. It also is not very expensive and only $8. Next time you ever visit Boston Pizza go and try the Chocolate Explosion Cheesecake and I promise you will not be disappointed.
