Rainhill Gala Community Support When the Gala started in 2006, the aim was to have a fun day for the community however it soon became clear that there was another benefit to be had, surplus funds! Every year we invite community groups to submit an application for funding from Gala funds, every year is different but last year we had a surplus fund of £7,200 from which we gave 50% (£3,600) to Willowbrook Hospice who we have supported from the start. We received so many applications last year that we took the decision to dig deep and find some more cash to give away, in total the donations amounted to £8,476!!!

Every year we hope to fund different projects and groups helping juniors and senior citizens and everyone in between, this year we will be supporting Willowbrook however if you are involved in a community group and would like to ask for our support this year, take a look at our website for more details. The amount of money we have to give away depends on may things including how many visitors we have on the day, however you will find your Gala committee around and about all year raising funds which goes towards the running costs of the Gala so we can give more money away, this includes the discos, 10K Run and even the adverts in this programme all help to achieve that figure. We’d like to thank everyone involved and it really is a case of every penny counts. If you have any ideas for fundraising events, please do get in touch!
