It is the first project for which the funds are raised without touching Government coffers. The 42,000 people owing to the 4850 hectares leave their land voluntarily, seeing the importance of Konkan's railway project. The route includes the longest ever tunnel at karbud, i.e., 5.6 KM long. Now the journey requires a travel duration of 17 hrs despite 3-4 days.
