any fans of the van life point out that it has allowed them to design and build their own home without getting into debt. For some, a budget of just a few thousand pounds has been sufficient to build a van-based home, with the owners doing most of the required conversion work themselves and learning from blogs and YouTube videos along te way.

While there are likely to be compromises required in order to make the most practical use of limited space, this does give van-dwellers the opportunity to create a bespoke space – for example, choosing whether to incorporate a stationary bed or a couch that converts.
Living a Normal Life With modern technology, enjoying the van life no longer means living without home comforts. Running water, solar power, the use of a fridge/freezer and the ability to cook using an oven or stovetop can all now be part of this lifestyle. As well as being relatively affordable, these facilities can be fairly easily incorporated in a van conversion.
