HIVE LIBRARY

ORIGINAL
The original sight has three abondoned buildings on the north side. The buildings are overgrown and unkept. A dirt ally runs down the middle/west side of the sight north to south. The lot has a sidewalk around the perimeter and a bus stop that has a rundown feel. The site itself is mainly dirt.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Although our building was connected to infrastructure via walkways, we wanted our site to embody the same characteristics. Creating walkways, bikeways, parking, and renovating the bus stop would be vital in connecting our entire site to the surrounding infrastructure

FORM
The initial form of our building was a square. We decided to add circukation through our building with a cutout of a court yard, and corridors on the west and east side to allow free flow. To add dimention and sun protection to our building we brought the sides of the first story in to create a cantilever out of the second story.
INFRATECTURE
Finally, the building and the site work collectively to connect with the surrounding infrastructure. Through walkways, bus stops, bikeways, and parking, our site and building connect with the infrastructure of downtown Phoenix, and enhance the quality of life of the users.
