completed two years on 29th June 2010. This day was the day of celebration for both students as well as for the trainers. But above all, it is also gives us an opportunity to introspect, our achievements and lapses. “Sport is where an entire life can be compressed into a few hours, where the emotions of a lifetime can be felt on an acre or two of ground, where a person can suffer and die and rise again. Sport is a theater where sinner can turn saint and a common man become an uncommon hero, where the past and the future can fuse with the present. Sport is singularly able to give us peak experiences where we feel completely one with the world and transcend all conflicts as we finally become our own potential.�
George A. Sheehan This June , FIFA fever is on. Most of us are on a fast and furious roller coaster ride of breathtaking soccer action enjoying the FIFA World Cup’s greatest goals, greatest games. In many ways , Sports define a society. They bring people together and also makes them apart. The importance of sports in the life of a young student is invaluable . It instills lessons that are essential in the life of a student. Sports play a pivotal role in the makeup of a young personality... Where else can a young, impressionable youth learn values like discipline, responsibility, self confidence, sacrifice, and accountability? Television, which may be the most influential tool in the lives of young adults, does not show enough of these qualities, nor is it on the Internet, or radio. Rather it is up to the parents, teachers, sports teams, clubs, and after school programs to help mould, develop, and instill these qualities into the lives of student athletes. I believe in order for this to happen, Educational Institutions do play a pivotal role .

Linus Torvalds was born in Helsinki, Finland, the son of journalists Anna and Nils Torvalds, and the grandson of poet Ole Torvalds. Both of his parents were campus radicals at the University of Helsinki in the 1960s. His family belongs to the Swedish-speaking minority (5.5%) of Finland's population. Torvalds attended the University of Helsinki from 1988 to 1996, graduating with a master's degree in computer science from NODES research group. His academic career was interrupted after his first year of study when he joined the Finnish Army, selecting the 11-month officer training program to fulfill the mandatory military service of Finland. In the army he holds the rank of second lieutenant, with the role of a ballistic calculation officer. In 1990, he resumed his university studies, and was exposed to UNIX for the first time, in the form of a DEC MicroVAX running ULTRIX. His M.Sc. thesis was titled Linux: A Portable Operating System.

His interest in computers began with a Commodore VIC-20. After the VIC-20 he purchased a Sinclair QL which he modified extensively, especially its operating system. He programmed an assembly language and a text editor for the QL, as well as a few games. He is known to have written a Pac-Man clone named Cool Man. On January 5, 1991 he purchased an Intel 80386-based IBM PC and spent a month playing the game Prince of Persia before receiving his MINIX copy which in turn enabled him to begin his work on Linux. After a visit to Transmeta in late 1996, he accepted a position at the company in California, where he would work from February 1997 through June 2003. He then moved to the Open Source Development Labs, which has since merged with the Free Standards Group to become the Linux Foundation, under whose auspices he continues to work. In June 2004, Torvalds and his family moved to Portland, Oregon to be closer to the OSDL's Beaverton, Oregon-based headquarters. From 1997 to 1999 he was involved in 86open helping to choose the standard binary format for Linux and Unix.
The story of the Penguin
Red Hat and VA Linux, both leading developers of Linux-based software, presented Torvalds with stock options in gratitude for his creation. In 1999, both companies went public and Torvalds' net worth shot up to roughly $20 million. About 2% of the Linux kernel as of 2006 was written by Torvalds himself. Since Linux has had thousands of contributors, such a percentage represents a significant personal contribution to the overall amount of code. Torvalds remains the ultimate authority on what new code is incorporated into the standard Linux kernel.[19] Torvalds owns the "Linux" trademark, and monitors use of it chiefly through the Linux Mark Institute.
In 1996, Linus Trovalds, visited the National Zoo and Museum at Canberra with his friends and was captivated by one of the Zoo’s little Penguins. Legend has it that Linus was infected with a mythical disease called Penguinitis. Penguinitis makes you stay awake at nights just thinking about penguins and feeling great love towards them. Not long after this event the Open Source Community decided they need a logo for Linux. They were looking for something fun and after Linus mentioned his fondness of penguins, a slightly fat penguin sitting down after having had a great meal perfectly fit the bill. Hence Tux the Penguin was created by Larry Ewing in 1996 and became the mascot for Linux. Now people this of Linux when they think of Tux.

To learn from the books is not enough.
There should be right application of
learning and experience. To instill interview skills in students, CDC organized a Talent Hunt on May 20th. The Talent Hunt consisted of two rounds of Group Discussions and Interview. The feedback was given by the trainers to the students to enable them to structure their answers well and work towards portrayal of positive personality. CDC Centre appreciate the feedbacks and assistance given by Ms. Charu Chauhan , who conducted the second round of Interviews.
29th June was a day of celebration for HCL CDCians at Mayur Vihar. To commemorate the 2nd anniversary of our center.
The MV Premier League cricket match was organized on 29th June at Mayur Vihar Central Park as a part of the anniversary celebrations. The students where divided into two teams under the captaincy of Mr. Amit Sexana and Mr. Sandeep Dahiya. The 2010 FIFA World Cup is the 19th FIFA World Cup, the premier international association football tournament, being held in South Africa from 11 June to 11 July. It is the first time the finals of the tournament have been staged in an African host nation. South Africa were selected as hosts in May 2004 over Morocco and Egypt, following a bidding process open only to African nations. The previous World Cup finals were held in 2006 in Germany, while the next World Cup is due to be held in Brazil. The finals tournament sees 736 players representing 32 qualifying teams compete in games held in ten stadiums across the country for the World Cup trophy.
The match ball for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, manufactured by Adidas, will be named the Jabulani, which means "bringing joy to everyone" in isiZulu. The number eleven plays a prominent role in the new technologically advanced ball: it is the eleventh World Cup match ball made by the German sports equipment maker; it features eleven colors, one for each player on the pitch; and there are eleven official languages in South Africa. The event will also start on the eleventh day of June and end on the eleventh day of July. A special match ball with gold panels will be used at the final held in Johannesburg. The ball was also used as the match ball of the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, and a special version of the ball, the Jabulani Angola, was the match ball of the 2010 African Cup of Nations. This ball is also used in the 2009/2010 season of South Africa's Premier Soccer League, as well as the country's 2010 Nedbank Cup, 2010 Clausura Tournament of Argentina as well as the 2010 MLS season in the USA in the league's colours of blue and green. The ball is constructed using a new design, consisting of eight thermally-bonded, threedimensional panels. These are spherically-moulded from ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) and thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU). The surface of the ball is textured with grooves, a technology developed by Adidas called GripnGroove that is intended to improve the ball's aerodynamics. The design has received considerable academic input, being developed in partnership with researchers from Loughborough University, United Kingdom. The balls are made in China, using latex bladder made in India, thermoplastic polyurethane -elastomer from Taiwan, ethylene vinyl acetate, isotropic polyester/cotton fabric, glue and ink from China.
Shakira collaborated with the South African group Freshly ground to perform the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa “Waka waka”. “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” in English, and “Waka Waka (Esto es África)” in Spanish, is a song by Shakira featuring Freshly ground. The song will be performed by Shakira and South African group Freshlyground, at the Closing Ceremony before the World Cup Final on July 11 in Johannesburg Soccer City Stadium.
