A CHALLENGE IS TO DESIGN THERMAL COMFORT SPACES FOR A DRY-ARID CLIMATE REGION. PASSIVE COOLING TECHNIQUES ARE USED ON BUILDINGS AND ON SITE CONTEXT.

“Faster growth rate of slums is a corollary of faster rate of urbanization in most developing countries”

IN THIS PROJECT, THE AIM IS TO EXAMINE SLUM AREAS AND THEIR LIVING CONDITIONS AND FIND OUT WHICH ARE THE MOST CRITICAL AND PROBLEMATIC ZVONES, AND THEN IDENTIFY INNOVATIVE, SUSTAINABLE DESIGN TACTICS FOR SLUM RESETTLEMENT.

The word “slum” is often used to describe informal settlements within cities that have inadequate housing and miserable living conditions.

The slum dwellers are important contributors to the city’s economy as industrial workers, construction site laborer’s, domestic servants, rag-pickers, hawkers and a wide range of small scale trades is vital to the city.

SITE JUSTIFICATION - Slum redevelopment is proposed in a prime location, where design features and spaces are key to effect large areas around.

- Selected site is the nearby site to select slum resettles, which is the main requirement for successful design funtionality.

-To provide easy access to a wide range of produce for consumers, It leads to the slum dwellers’ social upliftment and improved living conditions.

-Danger of traffic accidents because of being close to the main road.

-Failure of Relocation caused to opposition. - It Can be solved if relocated based on their Llivelihood and life style.

CONCEPT OF ELEVATION SECTION -AA’

The facade design for the house involves the play of two projected cubes cantilevered on either sides, treated with high windows and fixed glass to bring in the natural rocky terrain that surrounds the house.
