Capsule Collection
“ SEE THE SEA ”
This portfolio was conducted as a group assignment for the Fashion Business
Retail Buying and Merchandising course, with aiming to propose a capsule collection and a range plan for Greige Prints, it will provide detailed information about the collection, as well as an analysis to justify the selection and a concrete execution plan for the project.
After analyzing Greige Prints's current S/S 2022 range plan and that of its competitors, we found a gap in the vacation wear. With enthusiasm for island holidays on the rise, driving market demand for swimwear, beachwear is expected to be the future trend. Therefore, this capsule collection for S/S 2023 was decided to be made of mainly beachwear.
The conducted range plan of the collection is planned to cover 9 different categories with 27 different options, centered around 3 prints. A merchandising plan was also developed, taking into account the buying chart and attribute analysis. This shows detailed information about the price, materials, commerciality, attributes and number of stores stocked. As the last part of the portfolio, a visual merchandising plan for the capsule collection is proposed, which consists of a window display, fixtures for standard and flagship stores and a detailed floor plan.
In the post-covid 19 era, the long-term embargo is gradually lifted, people‘s desire for nature has become stronger and stronger, and consumers are eager to escape from reality and travel, which is a good time to focus on the vacation collection (WGSN, 2022)!

The global swimwear and beachwear market is expected to reach USD 27.6 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 5.1% during the forecast period (Research and markets, 2021).
Sustainable beachwear market is rapidly growing (Assoune, 2022).
The UK sports and beachwear sector will generate revenues of $3.08 billion by 2022. The market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 6.76% (CAGR 2022-2026).
In 2026, in the sports and beachwear sector, the UK market is expected to reach 90.03 million units
Based on the analysis before, We decide to do a beachwear collection for GREIGE PRINTS as 2023 capsule collection. The theme of this collection is ” SEE THE SEA”.
Satisfy consumers‘ need for sunshine and vacations with expressive graphics and striking colors.
Use silhouetted ocean-themed shapes to create a sophisticated and fun all-over print featuring shells, sea creatures, coral and the seaside. Tonal colors elevate the look and keep it from appearing childish. Omit fine details for a more crafted and painterly aesthetic. Use print executions to update the beach shorts, swimwear, kaftan and sundresses.

New-York based Caroline Constas started her brand in 2014, wanderlust is a way of life, CAROLINE CONSTAS reimagines the Mediterranean lifestyle season after season and is dedicated to the destination bound woman.
Zimmermann is an Australian luxury fashion brand. This brand’s vision is clever colour combinations and delicate original prints. Zimmermann has followed a Northern Hemisphere calendar for collection release. The Zimmermann brand now includes the lines Ready-to-Wear, Swim and Resort, Kids, and Accessories.
The luxury brand was established in the United States in 1999, But the company is based in London. Each collection illustrates signature Odabash style and quality. From the finest quality Italian swimwear fabrics to re-worked archived and vintage prints that are ethically sourced and manufactured.
Compared with competitors, Greige‘s new swimwear collection
(“See the sea”) price is medium level, and the product line is not rich enough, and there is no long-term physical store.
In terms of products type, we can conclude that:
l Greige Print lacks different types products.
l Dresses and Swimwear (bikini top & bottoms) are the main category in the competitors. Greige can catch up this gap.

This collection consists of three series of prints: “Fun corals”, “The underwater word” and “ Summer seaside”.
And each print consists of 9 styles: two swimwear, two kaftans, two dresses and a beach set.
In total, this collection has 27 options. Some of the materials that will be used in this collection are organic cotton, Polyamide of sustainable material, silk.

The print “Summer seaside” is specially designed for the standard pop up, so in standard pop up, we just sell this series.
"See the sea" is a collection for Greige 2023 s/s, available in three different prints and 27 different options. Of all three prints, the 27-piece selection will head to the flagship popup. "summer seaside" is a specially designed print for the standard pop up. So in standard pop up - Cornwall only sells products with that print.
The collection will launch on the third week of April 2023 and will run for 8 weeks until the second week of June 2023.
The total quantity of unit buy for the collection is 3464 pcs. The total buy value is £784,194 and the cost value is £242,911.

In general, “see the sea” aims to improve Greige‘s product types, find new market opportunities, and capture more market share. If the collection is successful in 2023 s/s, beach wear could be introduced as a new product line, which will attract more customers and expand the product range.
