SNOW LEOPARDS
Snow leopards are large cats. They live in the high mountains of Central Asia. In summer they usually live in rocky regions but in winter they come down into the forests. Their fur is grey and white with black and brown spots. They have got small heads, long tails and big paws. Their tails are 80 to 105 cm long and have got black stripes. They don’t eat fruit or plants, they eat meat. They hunt wild sheep, goats and small animals. They hunt in the day and sleep in caves at night. People hunt them for their fur. Now there are less than 10,000 snow leopards in the world.

Hi Sue!
How’s life? I’m staying with my family at my uncle’s in Sydney, Australia. His house is great! There’s a tennis court and a pool and it’s near the very famous Bondi Beach. It’s sunny and hot here so I always go to the beach or I have a swim in the pool. Sometimes I go to the Royal Botanic Gardens. My aunt works there, she is a botanist. She studies plants. When I grow up I want to be a botanist too.
Now I’m by the pool writing to you. Mum is sunbathing and Dad is speaking on the phone. Clare, my cousin is learning to swim underwater. What’s the weather like in Scotland? Is it sunny or raining? See you soon, Emma
