Brave Festival provides a platform for marginalized cultures to share the artistic traditions that are deep-rooted in their way of life. Brave Festival is celebrating and supporting the rich traditions of vanishing cultures from around the world. The Festival was launched in 2005 and, from that time, through an annual programme of performances, documentary films, music events, exhibitions and discussions, Brave Festival provides a platform for marginalized cultures to share the artistic traditions that are deep-rooted in their way of life. The festival encourages expression and dialogue through performances that provide rare insight into the experience of diverse cultures. Each year Brave Festival explores themes that are inspired by its visiting artists and their unique voices. By giving artists from marginalized cultures a voice and opportunity to engage in conversation with international audience and artists, Brave Festival is helping to
empower visiting communities to reaffirm and advocate for their own cultural identity. Such is the case of some presenting artists who need to garner support towards building their own cultural centres. Brave Festival provides direct benefits to the marginalised and vulnerable communities it aims to support by donating revenues from ticket sales to ROKPA International – the charity which actively helps countries and regions in need of humanitarian aid whilst respecting cultural values.
