RADIO AFRIC-AYE REPORT 2017. _____________________________ We are a community based media production, a project thoughtly founded by Mr Robert Maseko to improve his local community. Robert prides himself in his Black British African background with musical experience of almost 20 years in being a musician, music producer and freelance work in his arts & media projects providing the services to the communities around the Tees Valley area and the UK. With the interest of the community within his heart – In 2015 Robert decided to create a Radio project which is an online radio that also streams a series of diverse programs and podcast to listeners with a main focus of enabling the Afro – British community to have a platform to express their voices freely and to give the youth accessibility to be trained in the media production and gain both skills and experiences to enhance the community development and to create opportunities for the youth not forgetting to encourage the integration of the families of Afro-British Tees Valley region whom have gained in the North East as their second home, one of our main aims are to “Promote, Educate, Entertain and Celebrate Cultures”. Exploring the corridor between Africa and United Kingdom creating a platform to bridge the gap of understanding and acceptance. Our programs are broadcasting online via an internet connection and we have the use of Soundcloud and Mixcloud to upload our shows so listeners have the opportunity listen back from Monday-Sunday, 24 hours a day. We currently have 8 volunteers gaining real life media production skills with us that alternate between 4 days a week for programs that go live or need to be pre recorded. Our studio is now based at Celtic House under community charity under Humanah CIC and we in respect of all, have managed to register the project as a member of PPL, we have funded this project through our own pockets and through family and friends giving donations as we have not been funded by any local or national organisation to carry the progress and development of the project to the heights we would like. We also use are on social media such as Facebook and Twitter to spread the word of “Radio Afric-Aye”. In conclusion, we hope you everyone in the UK can see the authenticity and future of this project so we are seeking the support of our local authority so we can develop more this project and create more opportunities for all in the Tees Valley region.
