Selection Sunday is on the horizon, as the matchup of the 2025 Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl and the entire 2025-26 Bowl Season schedule will be announced on Sunday, December 7. The Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl features primary tie-ins with the Big 12 Conference and Conference USA.
Big 12 Conference
The Big 12 Conference has seven bowl-eligible teams, as are listed below:
• No. 4 Texas Tech (11-1)
• No. 11 BYU (11-1)
• No. 21 Houston (9-3)
• Iowa State (8-4)
• TCU (8-4)
• Cincinnati (7-5)
• Kansas State (6-6)
No. 4 Texas Tech is facing off against No. 11 BYU in the Big 12 Conference Championship Game on Saturday, December 6 at 11 a.m. CST on ABC. The result of that game could be a factor in deciding how many teams from the Big 12 are in the 12-team College Football Playoff field, which would have a trickledown effect on which teams are available in the Big 12 bowl lineup.
Conference USA
Conference USA also has seven bowl-eligible teams, as are listed below:
• Kennesaw State (9-3)
• Jacksonville State (8-4)
• Western Kentucky (8-4)
• Florida International (7-5)
• Louisiana Tech (7-5)
• Missouri State (7-5)
• Delaware (6-6)
Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State will face off against each other in the CUSA Championship Game on Friday, December 5 at 6 p.m. CST on CBS Sports Network.
Sun Belt Conference
If needed to fill a vacancy on either side of the matchup, the Sun Belt Conference is the bowl’s back-up tie-in. The Sun Belt has nine bowl eligible teams – a list that includes No. 25 James Madison (11-1), Old Dominion (9-3), Troy (8-4), Southern Miss (7-5), Arkansas State (6-6), Coastal Carolina (6-6), Georgia Southern (6-6), Louisiana (6-6) and Texas State (6-6).
No. 25 James Madison plays Troy in the Sun Belt Championship Game on Friday, December 5 at 6 p.m. CST on ESPN. A James Madison victory, as well as Duke winning the ACC Championship Game, could result in James Madison earning a birth in the College Football Playoff.
