Architectural design Paulo Sexto High School Academic Workshop - Ninth semester Year: 2019

Location: Quito -Ecuador The project is located in Quito in the Magdalena neighborhood. In which a repowering was carried out at the Paulo Sexto High School. It was proposed to carry out an intervention to enhance the spaces, analyzing the conservation of existing pieces that had weight in the way they were located and function within the organization chart of the institution.

A study of the place, the road axes and the existing infrastructure was carried out. To do this, a study of the pre-existing buildings was carried out to determine which buildings were going to be preserved and which were going to be modified or eliminated. After identifying and locating the new blocks, they were classified into public, semi-public and private spaces, which allows generating connections with the context.

To repower this space, connecting platforms and ramps were created to create universal circulation channels because the project is located on a slope and in this way it was possible to unite all the spaces and not create voids and overcrowding in the project. A cover was placed that integrates the entire project and gives it a unified character, providing shade with a play of full and empty spaces.

01/SPATIAL COMPOSITION The spaces generated by the new platforms help create connections with the building’s patios. They generate new possibilities of coexiting and connecting spaces, due to the play of shadows created by the roof and the location of the new directing axes of the project.

Within the project, connections are also generated with the public space that surrounds it. Not privatizing the building but incorporating public spaces such as the library in connection with the park and the theater that connects with the main street. As on the sides, controlled entrances to the public space are integrated.

Urban design River Chico Regeneration Academic Workshop - Eighth semester Year: 2019 Location: Avila - España Ávila is a walled city which needs to connect its biotic axes. This is why an Urban study is carried out of its main layers such as the Road system, which finds a connection deficiency between the central part and the peripheries. In the system of large Open spaces, it was determined that it has a large provision of green spaces such as parks and squares in the center and these are consolidated.

On the other hand, on the periphery there are large undefined lots and some with urbanization projections. Finally, in the Centralities system, the difference in historical (medieval) fabrics and their densification could be visualized.

The main axis of the project is to renaturalize the Chico River, freeing it and creating pedestrian routes for intervention and integration within the potential space.The new park as a biotic axis will have dynamism, since it will be made up of recreation facilities and places for stay and leisure.

For the urban intervention, a new configuration was generated, with a typology which will allow integration with nature and emptiness. New commercial axes were incorporated, enhancing them with collective residence and commerce on the ground floor in order to generate new commercial and expansion flows for the city. This intervention will improve the quality of life and environmental respect in Ávila.

01/MASTER PLAN The restitution of the Chico River is the main axis of action in the project, which is why the generated route was conceived with a total integration of the biotic and urban area of the place, dechanneling the river and creating controlled flooding spaces which in turn time they generate spaces for relaxation and leisure. Academic Workshop - Eighth semester Year: 2019

Location: Melbourne - Australia The landscape composition is based on the evolution that starts from the mineral to the natural, dividing into 4 parts in which each section differs from the previous one creating a chronological dynamic of nature, developed in an urban environment. The improvement of space has as its main element the presence of the railway creating new perspectives of the horizon line of the train tracks. In order to connect the spaces, we create “sunline” backbone that will allow us to articulate and relate the spaces forming a dynamics of flows.

The place of intervention is located at north west of Australia, Melbourne in the Sunshine district which has a strong industrial dynamics with the presence of the railway pass. This place was chosen because of the potential vacant space in which it is intended to refurbish and recover allowing to create new connections between empty and full spaces, taking as main element of action the railway.

Conceptual design Protective Forest Jerusalem Academic Workshop - Fourth Semester Year: 2016

Location: Quito - Ecuador The project is developed in Jerusalem Park. Its spatial distribution was created by preserving the existing vegetation, allowing the generation of a path along which the coexistence spaces would be placed, these in turn would be anchored to a main module which will be a condenser and distributor of spaces.

The central space from which the parking lot is connected creates a condensation space that will distribute the project. One of the spaces is located at the back with double height which will have a vertical spatial connection and circulation with ramps. He The program of this space will be a small auditorium. At the top of the project there will be a recreation space with vertical connection and circulation through ramps. Finally, the plaza will create a branch of paths through the forest in which there will be several shaded spaces where various activities can be carried out.

The roof is created by organic shapes that resemble shapes that can be found in nature, this roof was designed in layers to have depth which will help create spaces that allow sunlight to enter the path. Location: Quito - Ecuador Izamba is a rural parish in the Ambato canton, it is characterized by its potential for agricultural production, and its historical vocation. At present, the greatest real estate development has incurred in the division of agricultural land, concentrating a greater number of facilities with urban potential. Causing the lack of technification of agricultural processes due to the migration of new generations.

On the other hand, Izamba is surrounded by two rivers and has several river slopes in its territory, many of them polluted, which affect agriculture. Commerce has also migrated to streets and squares as there is no place to carry it out in an orderly manner. To carry out the investigation of this thesis, the qualitative methodology of observation was proposed through cartography and photographic surveys, to understand the territory. Based on the analysis carried out, an equipment is proposed that allows the revaluation of the rural territory and the conscious intervention of the landscape. Allowing education, technification and experimentation of the necessary processes to guarantee food sovereignty.

IRRIGATION SYSTEM

WATER INFRASTRUCTURE The water infrastructure is divided into elements that help capture and store WATER. On the other hand, the pipes also allow their purification and distribution to consolidate the irrigation system. In order to distribute water in the project, two types of canals are made, the first is the purification system, which is channeled naturally like a small stream that runs through the natural area of t​​ he project and is then reduced to a controlled irrigation ditch, which forms part of the agricultural water landscape being part of the route.

PURIFICATION TERRACES The purification terraces are part of the water purification pipeline. They are the first step in which, through various native plant species such as aquatic plants, they allow us to purify and oxygenate the water and in this way make it suitable for non-potable agricultural consumption. This solution arises from the problem of the sector since the water used for irrigation is contaminated. This is why this solution helps to strengthen agricultural production.

FOLIES PROPOSAL The strategy designed for the project is focused on both the general treatment of the space and the characterization of the route. This is how the folies create this relationship of proportion and scalarity framing the landscape, the folies are designed based on the historical archetypes analyzed, being a reflection of the monuments to obsolescence such as silos and elevated water tanks. At present, folies play a fundamental role, involved in a reflection on the technicalization of their use and their relationship with public space and context. Generating coexistence and giving life back to these important industrial spaces in the agricultural landscape.

03/FOLIE COMMERCE The Commerce folie is classified in the service category because it is dedicated solely to the purchase and sale of agricultural products. In this way we close the gap between the relationship with the consumer, giving space and dignified treatment to the producer, as food sovereignty says.

The commercial folie, due to its formal values, allows the generation of a microclimate inside, its cover allows the collection of rainwater for internal use in the green areas, creating a connection with the route of the project.

04/FOLIE SERVICE The service folie contributes to the collection of organic material and seeds that will later be used in the composting strips, thus completing the proposed cycle of the general program. This collection space is located in the center of the folie. And within its perimeter the regulations for health supply in commercial areas are complemented.
