When Was Pickleball Invented?

Pickleball was invented in 1965 by Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell, and Barney McCallum on Bainbridge Island near Seattle, Washington The sport was created as a family game for Pritchard’s children to play on their driveway. It was originally named “Pickleball” after Pritchard’s cocker spaniel, Pickles, who used to chase after the balls. The game was initially played with a plastic ball, wooden paddles, and a badminton net.
