The carnival has also been boosted by recent prize money increases, which will see every black type race in the state carry a minimum of $100,000 in a huge boost for Queensland racing. Doomben will host the first five weeks of the carnival before the action heads to the Gold Coast, Toowoomba on New Year’s Eve and the Sunshine Coast to give fans across the south east a taste of some truly great racing.

I have no doubt this year’s Summer Millions program with significantly increased stakes will attract heightened interest both locally and interstate. I would like to thank the State Government for its continued support of racing in Queensland and Magic Millions for the great spectacle they put on every year. I wish all of our participants a successful carnival and look forward to seeing you at the Summer Millions.

The highlight will again be Magic Millions Day at the Gold Coast on January 10, headlined by the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, which carry purses of $2 million and $1 million respectively.

This year’s carnival is aptly named Race Into Summer and with more than $10 million in prize money up for grabs across nine weeks of racing in South East Queensland, it is shaping up as the best yet.

The January 17 meeting at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club is another not-to-be-missed event on the calendar with a $150,000 2YO race, which will also carry a $100,000 bonus in addition to the QTIS bonus.
