Dear Friends:

Here is your chance to . This year I have invited six friends to share in the fun of highlighting works in the 2023 auction: John Runyon, trusted art advisor and TWO x TWO co-host; Katherine Brodbeck, The Hoffman Family Senior Curator of Contemporary Art at the Dallas Museum of Art; Vivian Li, The Lupe Murchison Curator of Contemporary Art at the Dallas Museum of Art, and two savvy art advisors and friends who bring a wealth of knowledge and vigor to TWO x TWO: Benjamin Godsill and Adam Green. John, Katherine, Vivian, Adam, Ben, and I each have our own icon to indicate our picks and we encourage you to take an extra look at our selected works: Howard’s Hidden Gems, John’s Under the Radar, Katherine’s Curator’s Choice, Vivian’s Visions, Adam’s Medley, and Ben’s Stars. Each of our selections will be noted in the online and print auction catalogues and throughout the exhibition at The Rachofsky House.

The bidding period begins on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 12 noon CST, and will close on Friday, October 20, at 12 noon CST. During that time period, the first bidder to place a bid at or above the full retail price wins the work. Bids placed prior to 12 noon on Monday the 9th will be considered simultaneous bids. If simultaneous and equal bids are placed, there will be a bid-off between only the highest bidders until a maximum bid wins. If a work sells in the auction, it will be marked as “sold” during the remaining TWO x TWO events. For further details on how to place your bid, please email meg@rachofskyhouse.org.

On Friday, October 20, at 12 noon CST, if the work is still available, it goes into the silent auction under standard TWO x TWO bidding procedures. All auction winners, including winners, must collect their items from The Rachofsky House on or before Tuesday, October 24, in accordance with the Conditions of Sale. Remember that you don’t have to be present at TWO x TWO to . Just look for the icons pictured above in our auction catalogue. More details on each of the works are available in both the print catalogue and at twoxtwo.org/catalogue.

BREATHTAKING JOURNEY TO ARABIA AND SOUTH AFRICA

Imagine a journey that spans continents, cultures, and experiences; a journey where every detail is meticulously crafted to ensure an unforgettable adventure. The Tynan Travel Company invites you to join their exclusive travel portfolio, starting with an extraordinary experience marked by opulence, relaxation, and wildlife wonders.

One&Only: Atlantis The Royal Dubai’s Opulent Oasis

Your journey begins in the glamorous city of Dubai, where you’ll be whisked away to the iconic Atlantis The Royal. A three-night stay in a lavish Sky Terrace Suite awaits you and your loved ones. From the moment you step off the plane, the red carpet is rolled out with seamlessly coordinated airport ground transfers, whisking you away to an exclusive retreat within the resort, The Royal Sea Lounge.

Each day starts with the promise of culinary delights as daily breakfast for two awaits, and when the sun sets, indulge in a dinner experience for two at one of the Atlantis The Royal’s restaurants: La Mar, Dinner By Heston, and Milos. With kitchens curated and helmed by renowned celebrity chefs, every meal will tantalize your taste buds.

After days of exploration and relaxation, the journey to wellness continues with not one, but two Awaken Spa Massages (one hour duration each). Enveloped in the tranquility of the resort, your worries will melt away under the skilled hands of licensed therapists.

One&Only Cape Town A Taste of South African Beauty

From the jewel of Dubai, you’ll make your way to the stunning landscapes of South Africa. Your next stop: One&Only Cape Town, where a Marina Grand Suite offers resplendent views of the country’s capital city. Wake up to sumptuous breakfasts for two, setting the tone for days filled with discovery.

The essence of Cape Town comes alive with a tantalizing dinner experience, with a total value of R 2500.00, allowing you to savor the local flavors. Your journey into Cape Town’s culinary scene continues with the “Sip & Savour - A Taste of Cape Town,” an exploratory gastronomic tour of the city’s vibrant food culture.

Micato: Embracing the Wild

As the urban luxury fades into the horizon, the wild awaits. Your adventure continues with Micato, taking you on a three-night safari at one of the Sabi Sabi Luxury Lodges in Kruger National Park. Here you’ll wake up to the roar of lions, the trumpeting of elephants, and the majesty of untamed nature. Every day becomes a story of close encounters with Africa’s iconic wildlife.

But the adventure doesn’t end there. Two nights in the wine country beckon, where Mont Rochelle, a property by Richard Branson, welcomes you to indulge in fine wines and exquisite landscapes. Before bidding Africa farewell, a day room at the InterContinental Johannesburg, along with delicious meals, provides a comforting retreat before your departure.

Seamless Luxury: The Journey Unfolds

Your travel adventure is free from hassles and concerns — every detail is tended to by Tynan Travel in advance, and then by our world-class in-country partners upon arrival. Domestic flights within the destination are included, and you’ll be escorted with care each step of the way. From airport transfers to sightseeing, a private vehicle, driver and safari director ensure your comfort and convenience. All gratuities - including those for the driver and safari director - are covered by us in advance, allowing you to immerse yourself in the moment rather than deal with the logistics.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

SPECIAL THANKS FROM TWO X TWO 2023

TWO x TWO is a remarkable illustration of what can be achieved when the vision, determination, passion, and incredible generosity of so many people converge. Since its inception in 1999, TWO x TWO has raised over $113 million for amfAR and the Dallas Museum of Art. We are truly inspired and moved by the unrelenting support and devotion of the Dallas community and our friends in the contemporary art world who together have created one of the most beloved and significant fundraising endeavors of our time. It is with sincere gratitude that we acknowledge the following for their exceptional contributions to TWO x TWO 2023:

Our forever thanks to DMA and amfAR Board Trustee and former Vice Chair Cindy Rachofsky and her husband Howard Rachofsky for welcoming us into their magnificent home for the 24 th time. It is their remarkable vision and unparalleled passionate support for the Dallas Museum of Art and the fight against AIDS that have made TWO x TWO such a cherished experience for everyone involved.

We proudly thank Lisa and John Runyon, the Rachofskys’ co-hosts, who have witnessed during their support over the years what all is involved in producing an event like TWO x TWO — and the million moving parts and people who bring it to life.

With heartfelt gratitude we welcome distinguished and exquisite artist María Berrío, this year’s recipient of the amfAR Award of Excellence for Artistic Contributions to the Fight Against AIDS. It is a great privilege and pleasure to add María Berrío to the esteemed list of TWO x TWO honorees, and we thank her and our friends at Victoria Miro for their enormous and steadfast support.

We salute our friends at SAKS for returning as our TWO x TWO 2023 Presenting Sponsor. SAKS is known for their commitment to philanthropy as a champion of worthy causes around the country and we are so fortunate to have their partnership again this year.

We thank Melissa Ireland, Executive Director, TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art, on her devotion and leadership planning another edition of TWO x TWO, and Meg Gratch, Director of Auction, for her precision in the preparation and logistics of the auction.

We also thank our generous Diamond Sponsors for their incredible support and impactful contribution: Cadillac, Moody Foundation, the Gene and Jerry Jones Family, Ralph de la Torre, and Deedie Rose.

Our longtime partner Sotheby’s, who has been with TWO x TWO for over two decades and now as the Live Auction Sponsor – thank you. We also applaud our charismatic Sotheby’s auctioneer, Michael Macaulay, Senior Vice President Sotheby’s / Senior International Specialist Contemporary Art, for his direction of the live auction. We also thank Charlie Adamski Caulkins, Vice President, Head of Office, Dallas, at Sotheby’s for her support in engaging and advising the Dallas collectors with the auction lots.

Todd Fiscus of Todd Events for lending his outstanding creativity to designing the décor and production of the gala event, and for making the magic happen for all to enjoy, and to Brian Utz for his leadership on the project. As our Entertainment Sponsor, If Not You, Then Who? / Emberli and David Pridham is helping us bring a sensational level of talent to TWO x TWO – Jason Derulo – thank you for your support and getting the gala crowd dancing into the auction. Our continued appreciation to Headington Companies for its annual support as the Celebrity Travel Sponsor.

Our loyal friends at Chubb Personal Insurance and IMA Select for their continued participation together as the Art Sponsors. And we are delighted to welcome Baker Tilly as our Financial Services Sponsor this year.

We are grateful to welcome LOEWE, who joins us as the After Party Sponsor this year, bringing luxury and style into the late night hours. And thanks to DJ RomiQ for keeping the tunes spinning all night.

Cheers to Belvedere, La Grande Dame, Moët Hennessy U.S.A., and Tequila Casa Dragones, who generously provide the luxury Champagne and cocktails for the TWO x TWO events. Thanks to Regiis Ova Caviar for providing the finest caviar for all guests at the gala. We thank Patron Magazine, our local Media Sponsor, for the generous and inspiring coverage of TWO x TWO.

Special thanks to Artspace, A Phaidon Company, for producing the beautiful limited-edition Rebecca Manson piece and to Rebecca and her team for their continued support of TWO x TWO with this project.

Silver Sponsors Unified Fine Arts Services for facilitating the TWO x TWO art installation at The Rachofsky House; Displays Fine Art Services for assisting with the artwork shipments to Dallas, and UOVO for storage partnership.

We thank the many friends and volunteers who have facilitated the production of this event and ensured its continued success. In particular, we recognize our friend Cindy Ferris, volunteer Travel Coordinator for assisting with the travel plans for the TWO x TWO visitors. We thank Eric Jez and his security team for keeping the venue safe. We also thank Big Box Little Box and Saint Digital Design for their creativity in the graphic design of the auction catalogue and promotional materials.

Jeanne Chvosta, Sara Deal, Thomas Feulmer, Darwin Lopez, Cesar Marquez-Rubio, Jodie Oliver, Caitlin Overton, Anna Pates, Adam Ross, and Patricia Venegas of The Rachofsky Collection and The Warehouse, whose hard work is instrumental in the production of this event. amfAR’s staff for their hands-on support in the realization of this event: in particular Kyle Clifford, Samantha Coria, Sue Doster, Chris Frederick, Andrew McInnes, Megan Payne, Bennah Serfaty, and James Shackelford. The staff of the DMA including Sarah Coffey for her help in mobilizing the art guards and Jeff Brownlee for his assistance on the TWO x TWO website. We wish to recognize in

particular Katherine Brodbeck, the Hoffman Family Senior Curator of Contemporary Art at the Dallas Museum of Art, and Vivian Li, the The Lupe Murchison Curator of Contemporary Art at the Dallas Museum of Art, for their help with sourcing and promoting the auction and artists’ participation.

We would like to recognize our additional in-kind sponsors and luxury auction donors whose contributions are an integral part of TWO x TWO: Art 2 Catering, Droese PR, Empire Baking Company, Gold Crown Valet, Grange Hall, Hilton Park Cities, Hôtel Swexan, Masterpiece International, Micato Safaris, One&Only, Pizzana, Pogo’s, Roche Bobois, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, San Pellegrino/Acqua Panna, The Cultured Cup, The Joule Hotel, The Tynan Travel Company, and Whitewall Magazine. Without the support of the business community, this event would not be the spectacular success it is today.

And finally, a project involving an auction of this magnitude is only possible because of the support of the artists. It is their extraordinary contributions this year and throughout the last two decades that have brought unprecedented success to TWO x TWO. Their commitment to the fight against AIDS and to the development of the DMA’s Contemporary Art Program demonstrates the generosity of the human spirit and the power it can have to make significant and positive change in our lives. We are profoundly grateful for their exceptional goodwill, which is the foundation for the success of TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art.

If you are unable to attend TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art on Saturday, October 21, and would like to place a bid on a live or silent auction lot, you may complete the Absentee Bid Form and submit it by Friday, October 20. A TWO x TWO auction representative can bid on your behalf up to your pre-set maximum bid. If the work is part of the live auction, you may also be on the phone with an auction representative to place your bids during the live auction.

Works in the auction are accompanied by icons indicating they are part of the pre-auction. These works will be for sale during the preview period from Tuesday, October 10, to Friday, October 20.

Successful bidders, including absentee bidders, will be notified no later than Monday, October 23. Please review the CONDITIONS OF SALE for more information about winning bids. All works must be removed from The Rachofsky House by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, or they will be sent to storage at the winning bidder’s expense.

Contact Megan Gratch, Director of Auction, at 817.243.2090 or meg@rachofskyhouse.org with any questions about bidding, absentee bids, , or to obtain a catalogue.

TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art

CONDITIONS OF SALE

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE WORKS IN THIS AUCTION HAVE BEEN DONATED TO amfAR AND THE DALLAS MUSEUM OF ART. IF THEY DO NOT FIND A PERMANENT HOME IN YOUR COLLECTION, WE ASK THAT YOU CONSIDER DONATING THEM TO A MUSEUM.

The property listed in the TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art catalogue and online at twoxtwo.org will be offered and sold by amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, herein known as amfAR, a 501(c)3 entity. Any questions should be directed to amfAR and not to the event sponsors nor auctioneer, who serves merely as auctioneer for amfAR in conducting the auction sale and participates on the following terms and conditions, as amended by any posted notices or oral announcements during the sale, which govern the sale of all the property offered at the auction:

1. (a) Neither the auctioneer nor amfAR assumes any risk, liability or responsibility for the authenticity of the authorship of any property offered at this auction (that is, the identity of the creator or the period, culture, source or origin, as the case may be, with which the creation of any property is identified).

(b) ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD “AS IS” AND NEITHER THE AUCTIONEER NOR amfAR MAKES ANY REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND OR NATURE, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO THE PROPERTY, AND IN NO EVENT SHALL EITHER OF THEM BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CORRECTNESS OF ANY CATALOGUE OR NOTICES OR DESCRIPTIONS OF PROPERTY, OR BE DEEMED TO HAVE MADE ANY REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTY OF PHYSICAL CONDITION, SIZE, QUALITY, RARITY, IMPORTANCE, GENUINENESS, ATTRIBUTION, AUTHENTICITY, PROVENANCE OR HISTORICAL RELEVANCE OF THE PROPERTY. No statement in any catalogue, notice or description or made at the sale, in any bill of sale invoice or elsewhere, shall be deemed such a representation or warranty or any assumption of liability. Neither the auctioneer nor amfAR makes any representation or warranty, expressed or implied, as to whether the purchaser acquires any reproduction rights in the property. Prospective bidders should inspect the property before bidding to determine its condition, size and whether or not it has been repaired or restored.

2. Any property may be withdrawn by amfAR at any time before the actual sale without any liability therefor.

3. The auctioneer and amfAR reserve the right to reject a bid from any bidder. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the purchaser. In the event of any dispute between bidders, the auctioneer and amfAR shall have sole and final discretion either to determine the successful bidder or to reoffer and resell the article in dispute. If any dispute arises after the sale, amfAR’s sale records shall be conclusive in all respects.

4. If the auctioneer determines that any opening bid is not commensurate with the value of the article offered, s/he may reject the same and withdraw the article from sale, and if, having acknowledged an opening bid, s/he decides that any advance thereafter is insufficient, s/he may reject the advance.

5. All bids are legally binding and cannot be withdrawn. On the fall of the auctioneer’s hammer, the highest bidder shall be deemed to have entered into a legally binding agreement to purchase the offered lot subject to all of the conditions set forth herein and thereupon (a) assumes the risk and responsibility thereof (including without limitation damage to frames or glass covering the prints), (b) will sign a confirmation of purchase thereof and (c) will pay the full purchase price therefor or such part as amfAR may require. Failure to pay the hammer price shall be deemed a breach of contract resulting in lost profits and damages. All property shall be removed from The Rachofsky House by the purchaser at his/her expense no later than 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. If not so removed, the property will be sent by amfAR at the expense of the purchaser to a public warehouse for the account, risk, and expense of the purchaser and such added charges will then be added to the purchase price of the object. If the foregoing conditions and other applicable conditions are not complied with, in addition to other remedies available to amfAR by law, including, without limitation, the right to hold the purchaser liable for the bid price, amfAR at its option, may either (a) cancel the sale or (b) resell the property on three days’ notice to the purchaser and for the account and risk of the purchaser, either publicly or payment of any deficiency, plus all other charges due hereunder and incidental damages.

6. Deliveries outside of Texas may be subject to the tax of another state and, where a duty of collection is imposed by law, amfAR will require payment of all said taxes.

7. A purchase price above fair market value is eligible for deductibility as a charitable contribution. The final determination of fair market value is, for tax purposes, the responsibility of the purchaser.

8. All checks must be made payable to amfAR. amfAR will accept cryptocurrency for the hammer price of all auction lots. Payments made in cryptocurrency must equal the amount of the hammer price in USD at the time the winning bid is accepted. If you are interested in paying with Bitcoin or Ethereum, and/or have any questions, please email crypto@amfar.org.

9. (a) Neither the auctioneer nor amfAR is responsible for errors or omissions arising out of or resulting from order bids or bids transmitted by telephone, including without limitation, errors or omissions arising from mechanical difficulties or failure.

(b) Some lots may be offered for sale subject to a reserve, which is the confidential minimum price below which such lot will not be sold. The auctioneer may implement such reserve by bidding on behalf of amfAR.

10. Items in the Live and Silent Auctions will be subject to these Conditions of Sale. The amount of any bid must be equal to or exceed the required increment as indicated online or on the bid form and must be in round dollar amounts and on the provided increment. All signed bids are binding and successful bidders not present at the auction will be notified by phone or email no later than Monday, October 23, 2023.

11. These Conditions of Sale, as well as the purchaser’s and amfAR’s respective rights and obligations hereunder, shall be governed by and construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of the State of New York. By bidding at an auction, whether present in person or by agent, order bid, telephone or other means, the purchaser shall be deemed to have consented to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state courts, and the federal courts sitting in the State of New York.
