By Kristi King, L.E. It's the new year and certainly your focus has turned into working out and taking care of yourself not to mention getting rid of the holiday cheer that settled around your waist. Here are some tips to help prevent skin issues that can occur from working out.

The first step is to remove your makeup before you workout. It's important to take off your makeup to prevent dirt and bacteria from getting trapped underneath the makeup. So if you start your workout with a fresh face you can work up a clean sweat.

Switching up your workout and moving outside is a great way to stay interested in what you're doing. Just remember if you plan to go outdoors apply sunblock with at least an SPF of 30 to not only your face but your neck and chest as well. It's important to protect the stem of the flower.

While you're working out avoid touching your face. Think of all the germs in the gym. When you touch your face those germs are transferred. So take a towel and avoid spreading germs.

Sweating and working out go hand­in­hand. So be sure to stay hydrated internally so that your skin stays healthy and hydrated.

To help with hydration, post­workout snacks like cucumbers celery strawberries and watermelon are great.

And lastly and perhaps most importantly when you're done working out ­ WASH YOUR FACE! You've got to clean off any sweat and bacteria that may have accumulated on the surface. If you follow these simple steps you're sure to prevent post­workout pimples.
