Hello! Welcome to my interior design portfolio. I would like to introduce my selection of works that I have created throughout my time in Iowa State University’s CIDAaccredited interior design program. Each project showcases a unique approach to solving design problems, by considering elements of functionality, user experience, health, well-being, and aesthetics. From the initial concept design to final design solutions, this portfolio showcases my technical skills combined with my creative abilities as a designer. I appreciate your exploration of these pages!

Concept
Our design’s purpose is to embody the essence of Chicago. We want to bring the city and all of its life to the Windy Point Hotel. By applying the municipal symbol of Chicago to the three towers, each represents multi-generational and functional spaces illustrating the most prominent aspects of the city –water, culture, and the people. We aim to design a hotel with light and airy elements while incorporating grounding accents. Couples, families, parties, and more are to be comforted and supported through the amenities and sense of the space. In other words, our hotel’s design aspires to live up to the reputation of the “windy city” and welcome all of its visitors.

BLACKBEAR CHILDREN’S BOUTIQUE
Interior Design Studio III - Fall 2022

Concept
The BlackBear Children’s Boutique is a comforting retail brand for mothers, children, and many others to enjoy. Their subtle brand plays nicely with the variety of clothing and products they produce, all rooted in a small town business. Our design will be tailored to complement and showcase the practicality and playfulness of their brand. The quality of the space will have a collection of multiple layers, particularly containing a naturalistic, youthful, and a contemporary-styled space. We will work towards a mature and classic feel while incorporating fun elements for the children. Our main focus will ultimately be the child, and our design will feature spaces and design choices especially curated toward them.

Bringing & Staying
Our concept of ‘bringing & staying’ seeks to draw students to Parks Library at Iowa State through a variety of thoughtfully crafted spaces and seating arrangements tailored to cater to the diverse requirements of the student body.
The concept behind the design is to create a luxurious vacation home that overlooks the mountains and nature surrounds while creating a sense of calm among nature. Spaces are designed with a playful energy that makes spaces feel exciting. The indoor/outdoor features of the home will create a tranquil environment encouraging relaxation, and renewed energy.
Attention Restoration Theory
Nature reduces stress, therefore helping to restore attention capacity. Nature can improve your state of mind and can contribute to overcoming mental fatigue. Nature has the ability to improve our ability to focus and direct our attention effectively.
