Creative Followership: In the Shadow of Greatness gives insight into the world of Jimmy Collins, former President of Chick-fil-A. In his book, Collins reveals his "Creative Followership Principles" that helped guide him during his successful thirty-two year career at Chick-fil-A. A couple of RA-LIN's employees shared their thoughts on Mr. Collins' book: "There are plenty of books that talk about leadership. There aren't many that talk about following. Everybody is following somebody. We all answer to somebody."

Project Spotlight The first phase of the replacement for Carrollton High School is complete. The final phase for Carrollton High School is projected to be completed November 2018.
Coosa High School, a 3-story steel frame high school in Rome, Georgia, was completed 7 motnhs ahead of schedule. Valued at over $32 million, this 176,883 square foot facility features a full-size gymnasium, auditorium, media center, academic, athletic, and dining areas.

Tanner Medical Center- East Alabama in Wedowee, Alabama is complete. The hospital includes a 64-slice CT scanner, X-ray mahines and lab equipment. With 15 private inpatient beds, 8 emergency exam rooms, a dedicated ambulance bay, onsite laboratory and pharmacy, cafeteria, and state of the art surgical suite, Tanner Medical CenterEast Alabama promises modern healthcare close to home. 7
Historic Downtown LaGrange, Georgia has a new gem- a RA-LIN-built Courtyard Marriott. This 53,239 SF hotel features a fitness center, outdoor firepit/patio/splash-pad, conference space, full-service kitchen and bar, and a 5-story parking deck. 8

Cares The crews from various subcontractors at Spencer High School collectively donated $356.25 during a weekly safety meeting on site to support Hurricane Harvey victims. Bill Williamson, RA-LIN superintednent, collected the donated money to send to the Salvation Army on behalf of the subcontractors and RA-LIN’s joint venture with Freeman & Associates, currently building the new Spencer High School project for Muscogee County School system in Columbus. The donated money was sent to the Salvation Army to help the Huston, Texas victims with 100% of the funds going directly to helping the victims.
RA-LIN celebrated our survivors during October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We stand with them and with those still fighting. Pictured are members of our RA-LIN family, Jill Colwell and Julie Phillips.

Andrew Stewart, senior project manager, has earned the designation of Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC). The CHC is a national credential that distinguishes an individual as being among an elite group of over 900 healthcare construction professionals who currently hold the certification. Congratulations, Andrew!!
Marty Leak, Corporate Safety Director, has earned the designation of Associate Safety Professional and Certified Safety Professional, the premier certification in the safety profession by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. BCSP is recognized as a leader in high-quality credentialing for Safety, Health, and Environmental practitioners. By having these certifications, Marty has met experience and education standards to ensure our job sites are safe and accident free. Congratulations, Marty!!

LEAVING A LEGACY Joe McGinnis, Jr., a Carrollton native and RA-LIN senior project manager, donated his grandmother’s Carrollton High School textbook from 1887 to the school. This is the oldest textbook on display at Carrollton High School.

Fun and Games Fall means football in the South, and at RA-LIN, we love to get competitive. Whether it’s getting payback for someone placing a Georgia Bulldogs sticker on your Clemson Tigers hitch cover or winning the Friday Fun Day Guess Who game, the RA-LIN team loves a bit of friendly rivalry. Our Football Friday luncheon included team jerseys and, of course, competitions. Dressed in their favorite team’s gear, members of the RA-LIN team faced off in trivia and rock, paper, scissors.
A few Clemson and Georgia fans had some fun playing pranks on each other this football season. 16

RECRUITING CAREER FAIRS The RA-LIN team attended career fairs to recruit future interns and co-ops at Kennesaw State University, Auburn University, and the University of Alabama. RA-LIN implemented a new cooperative education program beginning January 2018.

In the Fall of 2017, RA-LIN was in the process of completing a $6.2M renovation of Sparkman Hall on the campus of Jacksonville State University. After this renovation, Sparkman Hall and its 203 beds would become the newest and most sought after on campus housing for JSU students. RA-LIN partnered with the United Way of East Central Alabama in offering a one year housing scholarship for a deserving applied engineering student. On October 30th, at the JSU Homecoming football game, Jay Grubbs and TJ Maloney from RA-LIN Alabama Division joined representatives from the United Way in presenting Asja Cooper her scholarship. RA-LIN is proud of the work completed at Sparkman Hall and proud to support a student with a future career in the construction profession.
