Mental Health Center in Portoviejo's ground zero zone
Portoviejo endured severe consequences from the earthquake on April 16, 2016, with numerous buildings collapsing in the aftermath. The aftermath revealed the emergence of voids within the blocks of the affected area. This study concentrates on the transformation of these urban voids post-earthquake. The architectural object becomes pivotal in shaping the vacant spaces within ground zero, currently perceived as unused areas that symbolize a metaphorical wound for the local inhabitants.
The proposal suggests incorporating activities within the architectural design dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being. These activities aim to foster the development of residents by addressing their needs and facilitating engagements in public spaces.

The project comprises three "strips," with the chapel positioned centrally as the focal point.
Chapel Elements:
-Harnessing natural light through strategically placed openings in the brick walls.
-Utilization of brick to create apertures, facilitating the entry of light.
-Incorporation of water features, including reflective pools or mirrors.
Integration of fire elements, achieved through the use of candles.
