#REALMAGATL'S POETRY OF THE MONTH

A Normal Kind

Why does she never do right? My mama, its nearly everyday I can’t take it Too young to drug, yet I’m engulfed in liquor No remorse, Does she even care? My body, so weak, fragile Toes webbed, frog like My head swindles freely, Hanging on, My stomach growls thunderously. Nothing more than toxic distillation, trickling my way Doesn’t she know I’m in here? I kick, hit, nothing Nothing changes. I can tell I wont make it My heart beats SLOWER

“For the Love of Lust” Author: Malcolm Hannah

iving in a time where temporary LUST is preferred over LOVE and longevity, or is it? Back in 1993, Tupac Shakur released a song entitled “KEEP YA HEAD UP” which seems to be what is relevant in today’s society. Statistics shows since the 60’s the rate of children born out of wedlock as well as divorce has shot up over 50%. More couples will rather co-parent then stick it out; Single mothers settling for government aid, such as child support, instead of compromising with the father. As a single father, trying to survive on child support has become a great obstacle. Not only do they charge you extra as a processing fee, they threaten to suspend your license which in return will land you in jail. Now I thought the purpose of this system was to collect assets for support but if I become incarcerated, how can I gain assets to support? You can’t, it’s a trap, especially to those fathers that are active in their child's life. While the government acts as the middle man controlling our funds and visitation rights, we the couple continue to stay in disarray. I asked an elderly woman what’s her opinion on our generation as far as relations and relationships and she simply said, “You people today need to slow down. Life is too short for you all to be moving at such a fast pace. Either you all are afraid or nobody believes in love anymore. Look and listen at what type of music is being broadcasted out now. In my day we had Blues and when they added words to it, it meant something. This music today is so vulgar and violent, it’s making all of you aggressive at each other for no reason. If the mood doesn’t change then you all will never find peace.” After our conversation I really got to thinking like maybe she’s right, maybe we do need change. Now I ask this question to you, have we gotten so lost that we can’t go back, or do we really prefer LUST over LOVE? – MdotXcellENT

RISING VIOLENCE IN ATLANTA

ATLANTA RANKS 6TH AS ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS CITIES IN THE NATION. - FORBES

Atlanta Ranks 6th in violence across the nation 1/77 chance of being supsceptible to a crime. (Violent/ Property) Within Georgia, more than 93% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Atlanta. WRITTEN BY BRODERICK BLAND PHOTOGRAPHY BY OTHERS

Atlanta ranks as the 6th most dangerous city in the nation. A very scary statistic that constantly is threatening our community, the ranking consists of data collected on violent crimes such as; murder, rapes, armed robberies and aggregated assaults. We rank higher than cities like Baltimore, Detroit, and Oakland Our city is a transit community and a hub for the drug trade, you mix that with greedy individuals and we are set up for ultimate failure. Atlanta is also a Mecca for Hip-Hop industry and that attraction brings fast cars, jewelry and money a walking paradise for the most harden criminals.

pathetic. The image we are gaining is not good for the future. It is up to the community to provide a better presentation of our growing city. Inspire the youth to live a more righteous life and encourage them not to fall into the fallacy of greed. Spread love, give knowledge and most importantly require the youth to never stop believing in themselves and we can turn this around before it's too late. Everyday is a better day. Learn, live and grow as a community and the opportunities that are awarded to us will seem worth the reward.

You can turn on the news and all you hear is robbery here, home invasions, kidnapping there, murder here, it’s actually pretty

ashion in general has become limitless thanks to the Internet and social media but street wear culture is definitely leading the way at this point. Combining looks from sportswear, hip-hop culture, surf & skate culture, high-end fashion and blending it with sophisticated tailor fit designs. Although graphic tee’s and distressed denim seem to never go out of style, enthusiasts are now aiming for the limited edition pieces and brands that can make cut & sew pieces with attention to detail. In all seriousness, if you feel comfortable enough to express who you are through physical appearance via fashion, respect will always be given. There are a lot of great companies out there and designers consistently killing shit so have fun with it. Remember it’s not how much you spend on clothing or material goods but how well you can put it together. As the famous quote from Billionaire Boys Club goes, “Wealth is of the heart and mind, not the pocket”.

March 17th, 2016 To the Readers, R.E.A.L. MAG warm-heartedly appreciates all the love and support we have been receiving over the last few months. Our concept is very simple, which is to provide inspiration to a struggling youth by highlighting young entrepreneurs of various crafts. We often impose limitations on ourselves by thinking we are entitled to a multitude of things. That is not the case, we have to get out of the mindset of entitlement and learn how to work for what we want. Too many young kids throwing their lives away for material goods, fame, and street credit. We should not be living this way nor allowing our children to do so. We have to take a stand and show our youth that the opportunities for success are available. Whether its through education, sports, creative designs, music, modeling – kids need an outlet for expression.

Atlanta we need to do better. Our children are the future and we are truly suffering. R.E.A.L. Mag is taking a stand. With Regards, Broderick Bland Creator R.E.A.L. Mag Redefining. Evolving. Atlanta. Life.
