Model making

Page 1

Model making this year i have made serval things to help imporve my model making, this included very simple things such as just standard cubes to more complex things such as a scaled watch made from 1mm thick sheets of white plastic card

these are some simple card models that taught me how to put the scaffolding on thie inside of the model to make everything stable and make everything stay where i wanted at the angle i wanted.

This is a scaled model of a watch made out of layers of plastic card, stuck together using plastic weld and then sanded smooth. this is a good example of a model that would be used for getting 3d dimensions and seeing what the overall prodouct would look like.

These are forms that have notliteral translation as a literal object but rather come in as a set of forms that represent hierachy even though no literal hierachy is shown such as crowns or anything that we, as humans associate with tradition hierachy. These are made from modelling foam that is easy to work with and sand. i tried to get a nice organic shape, while not representing anything literal.

this is why model making is imprtant. this is how i used it in an actual design problem. i used the same techniques that i did for the other card models with the scaffolding inside. This showed me the different sizes and which one i wanted to chose.
