Jaguar E-Type Toy

Page 1

This was a brief i got in early 2014 and it was to make a toy car out of mild steel. This car must be an iconic British car and it must be made in its most simple form such as Arche Toys from Dutch designer Floris Hovers. In this portfolio of work i will show how i go about my designs from research, original sketching, prototyping and then the final product.

Notable Features of Jaguar E-type Long bonnet that seems to go on forever Elegance Smooth raise in bonnet Complex spokes Gap at the front Long roof that goes with elegant design

Arche toys are, in my opinion, the best looking toy cars ever made. They are so simple and that is the beuty of them. They are simple interpretations of very complex objects, cars. But throughout their simplicity you can autonmatically recognise the car, whether the exact model and make or just what it represents. Notable points on which i will look at as inspiration are: Straight lines Clear welding on the side Basic, One colour paint Open ended on body and windscreen Plastic wheels Basic, never over the top A few Notable attribute of the vehicle

“It is impossible to overstate the impact the E-type had when it was unveiled in 1961. Here was a car that encapsulated the spirit of the revolutionary era it came to symbolise. The E-type is a design that even today continues to inform the work we do in styling the Jaguars of the future. Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director
