Java Street
Community Center Injecting new life to the area, providing more social interaction between the communities because of it’s inactive, decided community and weak as an isolated individuals.
Jalan Tun Perak, was called Java Street (18891946), was initially settled by Malays and other people from Java. A Boyanese community center was once located on the street and a Kampung Rawa was located to its North.(a communal dwelling place) The Javanese was here to escape from the Dutch colonists who ruled Indonesia at that time and mostly of them were traders, kuli, and merchant.
Why Wayang Kulit ? A tradition for the Javanese, with good and evil characters normally to portray the storyline. The puppet was mainly character derived from Hinduism culture, until evolving into Islamic culture when Islam started to spread in South-East Asia. Reflecting the cultural changes and evolution through the Masjid Jamek area, while preserving the old, embracing the new of it. Which everything is inter-connected and linked together from the origin.

Our story begins in the confluence of the river. A place where legends, tales, and historical monuments scattered across the town.
The historical facts of Kuala Lumpur have slowly been forgotten and lost. The proposed museum is to record the transformation of Kuala Lumpur through time to form a mutual understanding among the people, to educate the younger generation, allowing them to explore and reinforce their own identity through the content of the museum.
